OB-Gyne is for women, what about for men?

I've thought about this a while ago when I saw other mylotter's discussion about her check up. then I thought, what if men needs a doctor/specialist that will examine them about their body, or if they have this problem with regards to their masculine side, like if they are incapable of giving their spouse a child. what kind of specialist will help them?
like for us women, OB-Gynecologist is our doctors when it comes to pregnancy, or whatever we wanted to check with regards to our feminine side..
I believe that men do also have their "OB-Gyne" but I really don't know the right term for it.
it'll be a great help if you'll share your thoughts about this. thanks a lot!![](/Content/images/emotes/happy.gif)

Family doctor is actually a good point to start.
as many of the diseases are trivial.
So a family doctor can differentiate whom to send where.
And by the way Obs Gynaec department as women are much more important than men.

well basically it is called a Surgeon or surgery specialist.
basically a surgeon deals with all the male parts during his MS or post graduate program.
Urologist is a superspecialist who superspecialize from Surgery.
But he deals with Kidney, Ureter, Urinary bladder, Prostate, Urethra all the way upto exterior.
But as of gonads and libido or the organ proper though they do not come strictly under urologists domain can be done by any surgeon.
The overlying skin problems comes overlapping between surgeon and a venereologist who is typically a Dermatologist.

the closest thing i can think of is when guys get their prostrate checked at normal check ups.. most guys dont have their fertility checked unless there is a problem but no matter what guys usually always have their prostrate checked so i guess that is as close as it would get to a gyno exam for us

yes. I think so. but most guys are taking this things for granted, and some don't know and where should they go, if they need to have check ups.

Wow... Good question. Now you've made me think too.. I can't seem to recall any term... Ugh... Can't think of it. Haha. I wonder what they are called if such specialists really exists. If not, guess people our right that there are really no specialists for male that corresponds to female's OB-Gynecologists.

Hey zer0charly, I can help you with this question. If
a man is having trouble with his "masculine side" as you
put it he has a few options. He can go to a Urologist
or his regular Internist. If he and his wife are having
trouble having a baby then they can go to an Infertility
Specialist. I used to work for an Ob/Gyn who was an
Infertility Specialist that is why I know alot about
these problems. I worked in the medical field as a
medical assistant.

so it always depends upon the man's situation/problem. unlike us, we know that if we had a problem, OB is the right specialist to consult with..
thank you so much for giving your insight. I am sure that it'll help, not just me but the others as well..![](/Content/images/emotes/thumbup.gif)
