They got different meanings. Which one do you prefer hearing from your partner?

hmmmm i'm going to be greedy and say both.....they may have different meanings but it is sometimes hard to have one without the other...if your partner loves you but doesn't need you then your in trouble there...however if they need you but don't love you...well then your taking on the role of a parent!! Overall i would prefer to hear love you if it's from the heart!! Confused much?!

i have heard " i love you " said so easily 100 times as if its the cure all answer to every argument when said so often it becomes cheap i would like to hear things like " i need you" " i want you" and mny others words of affection than just " i love you"

I think it would just depend on the situation. For example, I think "I love you" would be nice to hear in my ear if we were watching a sunset or something. "I need you" would be nice to hear if we were about to part from eachother..

Both have beautiful meanings and are nice to hear but I do prefer hearing "I Love You" than "I Need You". Coz by saying the word "I Love You" it simply connotes that you are very much wanted and loved by the person and that you are so dear to him/her. Then thats when the "I Need You" phrase would come, wherein that person wants and needs you to spend his/her whole life with you. While the simply "I Need You" connotes that the person needs you for something or in short, for a favor and that's not an assurance that he/she loves you or can love you back.

my girl loves to hear me say 'come back to me'... think the standard 3-word phrase gets out of fashion real quick.

hehe, like we use "i love you more" instead of "i love you too". better sounding, better meaning :)

Both wouldn't hurt, but I think when you tell them I love you it means alot of different things. And it also includes I need you.

I would like to say both, but during romantic moments, I would prefer to hear 'I love you'.:) 'i need you' seems to sound very needy from a guy...it's like very dependent like that. So yeah, i would choose I Love you!

i'd choose 'i love you' beacuse that will probably meant he needs me too. whereas, if he needs me, he may not necessarily love me :)
