Oct 17, 2008 Will sun Rise for 1.5 Days ??

This is not true, I live in the US, and at this very moment day break is happening. See the article below: A very strange astronomical rumor is circulating: Coming October 17, 2008 the sun will rise continuously for 36 hrs (1.5 days). During this time the US countries will be dark for 1.5 days. It will convert 3 days into 2 big days. It will happen once in 2400 yrs. We're very lucky to see this. Forward it to all your friends. This rumor appears to have come from India, so it means to say that the sun will rise for 36 hours over India, and the Americas will be dark for the same amount of time. Not that this makes the rumor any less nonsensical. The only way for this rumor to come true would be if the earth stopped rotating.

Ohhh! What does it mean? You mean there will be all night? How impossible. It means the world will not revolve for a day! I don't think that will ever happen. I don't believe rumors! There had been so many rumors in the past that alarmed almost all the people but they turned out all false. So I never bother thinking about them rumors.

I think this is ridiculous. The sun cannot rise for 36 hours straight except for countries near the poles. This must be a hoax. This must be verified first before being spread out into the internet. This might mislead people.

most ridiculous thing to happen. if that has to happen, the following things have to happen. for three days the earth has to rotate at its 2/3rd speed. so that three days will be converted to 2 days. for that to happen, someting catastrophic has to happen. if earth suddenly slows down the spinning on its own axis, that will create lots of problem for us and everything on earth. as i write this now, (1st November, 2008) its two weeks past the event date. till date no news of this was published in any of the indian newspapers or media. the idea sun rises or sets itsself is absurd. sun just stayes wherever he is. that is the centre of planeatary system. as the earth spins on its axis, the part that is exposed to the sun gets light. its this movment of earth that gives us the feeling that sun rises and sets. this must be one of those chain letter kind of thing. one can just read it and if you like it, keep it. if not just delete it.
