India's Nuclear Deal with the USA happened to be a much talked about event in the recent past. No doubt, the push of Bush in this Deal cannot be undermined, but the perseverence, determination and foresightedness exhibited by Dr. Manmohan Singh will find a prominent place in the annals of history. It was his relentless efforts and avoidance of overreaction to the unprecedented opposition at home and even in the USA which drove the Deal to its logical conclusion. I think by inking this Deal Dr. Manmohan Singh has left an indelible impression for the next generation to remember him as an elite Prime Minister as Rajiv Gandhi did while performing his computerising India feat. The broader issue to be discussed is - whether under the given circumstances there is any other leader of his stature in India who could put this Deal through?
