Charity giving

With the current economic crisis my question is simple, do you guys believe that charity begins at home. Do you still give to charities and if so which 1s and how much

Yes, I do believe the saying is charity begins at home but it did not stop there it went on to say but it spreads itself abroad. Yes, many are facing hard times, but there is more to life than material possessions and money.
I volunteered to serve on my community advisory board. There are other agencies that I volunteer with. The literacy council, the Boys and Girls Club, the Salvation Army just to name a few. When I take my vacation days. I go and spend my time doing mailings, working with children, stocking the food pantry, teaching someone to read etc. I go and give my time, but it does not stop there.
As long as I spend 25 hours at each organization my job will automatically donate $250.00 to that organization.
So, even though I might not be able to give them funds my time and energy generated what I was unable to give.
