meeting new people online

What is the best way of meeting new people online. Is it to join dating sites. But dont most of these cost loads to join. Do any of you guys know any good free sites to join. Or mayber you dont like to meet new people online and prefer to do it in person. Where do you guys go, because sometimes it aint possible to meet new people while out clubbing for example.

I haven't joined any dating sites. I am afraid of them. *LOL* Sometimes I meet people that I have talked to for a long time on my message boards! But even then I am careful. I meet in groups, etc. :)

there are free dating sites but i wouldnt trust them to be honest-i have heard of people meeting on a forum and getting engaged-it was on martin lewis money saving expert i believe, so get posting!!!!!!!!!
