cats don't read and they don't want you to either

Yep, every time I start reading, one of the cats starts walking on me, rubbing on the book, etc. Usually the cat wins. I pet the cat, eventually they simmer down and a actually get to read a few pages before the next cat gets up there. Do your cats not like you to read (work on the computer, whatever)? Do you let your cat get away with this?

It's not a problem with me. I sit in a big chair and the cat sits on the arm of it. The cat doesnt bother me when i work on the computer. The dog is another matter though. He is always wanting to sit on my lap when I am on my laptop. I usually let him sit there for a minute or two and then he needs to get down.

That's funny. What kind of books does your cat like to read?

My Cat likes to help me read,he thinks I don't read all the big words so he is always there with his paw to point them out to me.

Maybe to cats reading looks like your just sitting, not busy, so it is OK to bother and pester for attention. One of my cats will do such when I try to watch TV and he wants attention he will sit right in front of the screen or even step on the remote purposely changing the station and then go sit right in front of the TV so all I see is him. The other day two of my three cats took turns doing this. No sooner then I could shoo one away the other would take his place.

One of my cats sits on a newspaper if you put it on the floor to read it which is annoying, but there isn't really anything I can do about it, except not put the paper on the floor to read it. If they want my attention and I'm reading a book they will get in the way or nudge the book till I stroke them, but like you I just wait for them settle down then carry on reading as long as they'll let me.

Mine will get right between my face and the book but then I usually lie down when I'm reading.

LOL. I see my son and his cat argue about this all the time. Everytime he pulls out homework or a comic book to read or something that involves paper she is right there walking straight across it and he is shooing her away. He gets so irritated with her. She loves any kind of paper though. My pet peeve at the moment is that she gets into the toilet rolls. Everytime I buy new toilet paper she gets ahold of it and shreds it to bits. I could kill her. Or any little bit of paper she manages to find and spends the entirety of her day batting it around the room. My house is always covered in little bits of paper of one origin or another.

My cats are pretty good about not bugging me when I am on the computer , but if I sit in a chair they are in my lap! I am not a big reader most of my reading in online!

Hhahaha it seems that your cat like your company a lot. They own you instead of you own them. That's why I love pets!

my cat doesnt bother with that too much, she will jump up beside you but she came to me when she was 9 so she is sort of skittish, but my parents cat, with her, she hates when anyone talks on the phone! she will come right up and sit on the phone or press buttons (which is rather annoying to the other person on the line!) my parents always shoo her off the table!!
