I never quite knew about cooking till i started going to college and after my marriage i was still not too good. Slowly i learned to make new dishes and would make them for my family and with their support and encouragement today i am just a great cook largely appreciated by my family and others. One thing is challenging. They are always looking for some new recepies. How about you? Does your family love to eat food made by you?

I have been cooking for the last 42 years or so, so I better be a good cook. I started cooking when I was as young as 9 years old. I come from a family of 8 kids. My father worked during the day and my mom worked in the evenings. So us kids had to do the house work and the cooking and laundry. All of the things that moms usually do. I don't mean to make it sound like my mom didn't do anything because she sure did. She would do what needed to be done during the day and then left for work around 3 in the afternoon and never got home from work till after midnight. Then she got up a 5 in the morning to start all over again. She had a hard life.
So since the four oldest of us were all girls we were given a lot of the responsiblities to help my mom. We didn't mind it either, because we saw how hard she always worked. So we all learned how to cook from my mom, when she had time. She mostly just told us what had to be cooked and how to do it, and then we just did it. We learned from our mistakes and got real good at it.
So I have always known how to cook, pretty much. I don't cook as much anymore since there is just my adult daughter and I living here. I do still cook dinner almost every evening but she takes turns with me and does some too. On the weekends I like to make special things that take more time, like cabbage rolls.

I am a really lousy cook. My husband, on the other hand, is one of the best cooks out there. He is such a great cook, and loves to cook. He's extremely creative in the kitchen, and is never lacking for a good idea. He is the best cook I know, and he keeps me stuffed.

I'm not good at cooking at all. I can make tasty but fattening dishes though such as fried rice. :) I make very good salads too heehee but that doesn't need to be cooked at all. I used to enjoy baking more but then I easily get bored with sticking to recipes. So I think I may be better at cooking if I give it another try.

Not really, I still have more to learn. Timing is essential to a good food and I think that I need to work out that more. I want to know more about what combinations will be good together and how to improve the taste. I want to learn how to flambe(sorry no accent) and wok hai. hehehe. I think its cool.

hello limcyjain,
I love to cook but I must admit that I am not a good cook, but I'm trying. Though I can say that my family, friends and relatives are eating the food I made. I'm always watching in tv the programs that has cooking lesson. I even buy books about cooking. This way I can improve and learn new recipes and share it to my family.

Ya! I love cooking and I have been helping my Mom in the kitchen right from my childhood so, I know cooking since then.My parents say that you should definitely know how to cook so that you don't have any problem whether you go outside for your career or after marriage.Indeed,I cook food everyday and most of the times some of my favorite new recipes and everyone just loves it. Most of the times my brothers insist me on making some of the recipes and their favorite cakes. It gives me real feeling of pleasure and satisfaction to cook for them.

I never got the green thumb and passion for cooking. I never perceieved and mould myself becoming a home and family person. I do love to eat but never cooking. I appreciate food very much, it's just that, I do not have the It factor in cooking. I am glad that other people appreciate your cooking. good luck!

I don't think so. I have never cultivated a love for cooking, although I would love to learn to make some of my favorite dishes. I never got around to learning, even after having a family. But I guess it is a slow process for me, because there is someone else who does the cooking for me. Ocassionally, I will cook some simple food, that does not require too much of my time. I find cooking a waste of time, since the amount of time to gobble up the food is less than the amount of time to cook them. Anyway, one day I will learn more.

When I was a teenager Mom tried to teach me to cook. I hated it. Then I got married and moved to another city. Suddenly I realized - no mom = no food. LOL So, I learned to cook. I kept trying new things, got recipes and cook books from family. And now I'm a good cook. My son is learning to cook now also. I'm going to be moving closer to his city soon and he is looking forward to getting some of my recipes and having me show him how to prepare them. I'm also lucky enough that my guy is a great cook too. His focus is usually on the meat and I do the veggies or side dishes.

Hello limcyjain, actually I'm not good at cooking, but not that bad also. I can only cook simple foods. When my mom asked to cook for them I would try by asking them the steps and and the ingredients to use. That happened when nobody is available to cook. But I can't eat well when I was the one who cooked.
