I was just checking my automobile insurance and I was wondering if a friend total my car am I covered. I have no idea I am going to call my insurance agent and see about this. I tried to find a copy of my policy and couldn't.
Do you know if a friend total your car would your insurance company pay?

I don't know if things work differently in the states or not, but if a friend was driving my car here, they would either have to have their own insurance policy that entitles them to drive other people's cars, so if they totalled my car then it would be their insurance that paid for it and not mine, although this is only third party cover, or they would have to be named on my insurance. xxx

Hi Chevee,
My husband own the car and I haven't a clue if he is covered, but no one else would drive his car but I have no idea.

I would imagine that it would all depend on your policy. Some people only get insurance for their car when they are the driver, others get blanket coverage so that the car is covered no matter who is driving it. You better check
