Why does Sarah Palin dislike animals so much

So Sarah is in the news again, question scientific evidence that a species belongs on the endangered list.
The findings by NOAA's National Marines Fisheries Service conflict with claims by Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who has questioned scientific evidence that the beluga whale population in the waters near Anchorage continues to decline.
Palin, Republican presidential nominee John McCain's running mate, has strongly objected to the federal government's possible declaration of the whale as endangered.
It's the second run-in Palin has had with the Bush administration over the Endangered Species Act.
She has asked the courts to overturn an Interior Department decision earlier this year declaring polar bears threatened under the federal law.

I don't get what her opposition to this one is.

This country was founded and expanded by people with backwoods hunting mentalities. Daniel Boone comes to mind. I personally am not a Palin fan but many people obviously are she is or was the most popular Governor in America.
She clearly represents a mentality that has meaning to many as distasteful as it may be she is a symptom and not the problem.

Palin can see these creatures from her house, therefore they're not endangered.
Seriously, Palin is only interested in the oil company's ability to drill...remember Alaska gets money from them based on how much they can bring up. If certain areas are designated as habitats for endangered species, no drilling can be done until they are removed from the list. She couldn't care less about these whales or any other animal.

She doesn't hate animals. But she lives in Alaska and we don't. It's a different world, and unless one has been there (and lived there), I think it's best not to judge. Remember...she has about a 90% approval rate there, so the folks in Alaska obviously don't see a problem with these things.
I lived in FL and one year, there were so many alligators finding their way to swimming pools and small lakes, that something had to be done. The environmentalists and animal rights people fought having us do away with them. But they weren't anywhere around...having their dogs eaten by the gators.

She actually now has an approval rating of about 68% and falling.

Compared to the approval rating of the Dem Congress which is 8 that is still pretty darn good.

I think she doesn't want them to effect the oil or natural gas drilling up there. Which I could almost understand that but we have known about the energy crisis since the 1970's and have done hardly anything to find alternatives.
