It's Obama's Fault Joe the Plumber is Being Hounded By the Media!

I have no links to post but I heard this with my own ears and saw it with my own eyes - in a stump speech just moments ago, John McCain blamed Obama for all the scrutiny Joe the Plumber has come under since the debate Wednesday night. It's Obama's fault it's now been reported that Joe isn't really a licensed plumber and owes back taxes, I guess. Maybe it's Obama's fault that he isn't licensed or didn't pay his taxes, after all, isn't EVERYTHING Obama's fault? It's probably also Obama's fault that Joe, a registered Republican who admitted he won't pay extra taxes under Obama's plane because he doesn't earn enough money, compared Obama to Sammy Davis, Jr. Come on, guys, admit it - this is really over the top! It was McCain who brought Joe the Plumber's name up to start with at the debate and continued to talk about him ad nauseum throughout. But today McCain said Joe the Plumber didn't ask Obama to send the press to surround his house, etc. (I'm paraphrasing here but that's the gist of what McCain said.) Any comments? Annie

Well Joe allowed himself to be put in the spot light knowing he was not licensed and owed back taxes so I would have to say it is Joe's fault. He is grown man. He decided he wanted his 15 minuates of fame. Everyone knows in this election anyone who gets brought into the spot light is going to be investigated and scrapped over the coals if they find ANY dirt. So I guess he now gets to deal with it. It is not Obamas or McCains fault. It is Joe's.

Irish, it's been all over the media about him owing back taxes and I think he may have spoken about it himself. I really didn't see anything partisan about him being in the news at all, I saw him as just another "15 minute celebrity", just one of many that pop up about every 15 minutes but in his case he popped up because of McCain. I was really getting quite sick of hearing about him but when I heard McCain blaming Obama for the media circus I just had to bring him up myself. Annie

I hadn't heard about the owing back taxes. Is there a non-partisan link?

Typical McCain if you remember just a couple short days ago, McCain was the one who brought up the issue of Joe the plumber and kept discussing it all during the debate. That guy McSame is a piece of work. I really dont like him.

My feeling is that it's McCain's fault that Joe the Plumber is undergoing so much scrutiny. He is the one who brought up Joe, and used his last name. Any reporter who is following the campaigns is going to start digging to see what they can find. If McCain hadn't brought it up it wouldn't be an issue. Obama is not to blame for the scrutiny.

I am so glad that McCain and the hate squads aren't planning to come anywhere near my area of Florida today. I agree, McCain brought ole Joe into the spotlight so how can he blame Obama for the media attention. Then again, Joe brought himself into the spotlight as well.

You're so lucky, McCain will be here Sunday. I heard that and was mad I couldn't get tickets to go hear for myself. His supporters should be careful they are going into a gang area and the last time a hate group came to Toledo there was a huge riot.

Of course it's Obama's fault! Everything is Obama's fault. I'm sure that he was even responsible for the Great Depression. The great McSame brought his up but his downfall is Obama, I'm sure that Obama was down at the Lucas County Building Department and the Toledo Building Department looking for all of this information himself.

If elected he'll be responsible for the next "Great Depression" because of his liberal policies just like Hoover.

...come to think of it, I think it's Obama's fault that I have freckles! Seriously, this is rediculous. If McCain hadn't felt the need to bring up Joe - and if Joe hadn't wanted his 15 minutes to begin with, Joe could be the happy, anonymous, unlisenced, non-taxing paying member of society that he's always been.

Where in the world do you see anybody (in this thread) making fun of Joe the Plumber for asking a question? We're talking about McCain blaming Obama for Joe the Plumber having reporters camped outside of his house.

I heard this, too. How is it Obama's fault? I watched the entire debate. McCain brought up Joe tthe Plumber first. He said "Joe the Plumber" twenty-five times!

Look Annie, obviously there's no definitive proof saying Obama is sicking the media on him. However, the media is doing their best to smear and discredit the guy. You'll notice that the media isn't smearing people who challenge McCain. They are only smearing people like James T. Harris for being a black man supporting McCain. Joe the Plumber now has the media camped out on his lawn constantly harassing him and digging up dirt on him for challenging Obama's tax plan. The fact that Joe Biden took the time to attack him certainly lends credence to Obama's support of all this.

I really wouldn't say they're "smearing" him. How are they smearing right wing talk show host James T. Harris, by the way? If some liberal talk show host showed up at an Obama event and didn't identify himself or herself as such, now THAT would be a major even and I think we all know it. Also, how and when exactly did Biden attack him? I somehow missed that, unless you're referring to his joke on Jay Leno last night which was a.....JOKE, which McCain has been making quite a few about poor Joe the (unlicensed) Plumber! Annie

The media is not digging up dirt on Joe the Plumber, he himself has provided the information that he doesn't have a license and isn't making 250K. All the media is doing is asking him questions, which he (unlike certain Alaskan governors) is more than happy to answer. And the media is also showing his interviews all over the place, and he's clearly making a case for McCain in everything he says. If the media was really biased for Obama they would be ignoring Joe the Plumber completely because his opinions and statements are not pro-Obama at all.

It seems lke a logical conclusion to suspect Obamas' campaign to do this type of investigation.Joe the Plumber will be Nobamas' downfall because it puts a real life face on his ridiculous tax concepts..particularly considering the economic condition of the country.Anyone with common sense knows that you don't raise taxes during an economic downturn. Nobamas' team is out to denegrate a regular citizen. No surprise here!

No offense, pismeof, but I didn't see anything logical in this response. Obama's campaign didn't do an investigation, the media did as they do for anyone who suddenly captures so much interest. It was McCain who brought him up and kept harping on him over and over. How you get from that very clear and simple FACT to "Nobamas' team is out to denegrate a regular citizen" is totally beyond me! "Joe the Plumber will be Nobamas' downfall because it puts a real life face on his ridiculous tax concepts," is a totally inaccurate statement according to Joe the whatever he is himself since he admitted he doesn't make enough money to have to worry about paying more taxes. Obama doesn't have to worry about his "downfall" but I think McCain has sunk so low he's never going to pull himself up. Annie

Anniepa, I think weached the point at which, like many who have gone onstage unprepared, McCain has decided it doesmatter what he says. How else could he keep making such a complete fool of himself?

Here's a few links, Annie. http://wizbangblue.com/2008/10/17/mccain-lies-again-about-joe-the-plumber-blames-obama.php http://features.csmonitor.com/politics/2008/10/17/joe-the-plumber-under-attack-mccain-to-the-rescue/ The second is a recognized news site. McCain's an idiot and typical of the it's-always-someone-else-who-starts-it mentality. Seems to be a pre-requisite to being a member of the elephant clan.

Hey annie! I think that is really pretty funny. Now this guy is in trouble because he isn't even a licensed plumber and hasn't paid his taxes and got caught! So it's Obama's fault! He didn't have to speak to him on national tv! He could have refused to speak on camera! So that would make it whose fault! It is his fault that he is a tax evader and got caught! That's what you get for your 15 minutes of fame! You should have stayed in the house and kept your big mouth shut! Now you're in big trouble Joe!
