Roast pan on or off while cooking turkey? please help!

currently cooking a late turkey and its big! the TOP of the turkey just to say touches the lid of the roast pan but i could still close it.. whats better lid on or lid off?

Honestly I have never used a roaster pan with a lid. What I do is simply use tin foil to cover the bird and bake it in the oven. Then about one hour before it's finished I uncover it from the tin foil so that it can turn golden brown. I also inject my turkey with its own juices, butter, garlic,and italian seasoning using a large hypodermic needle.I usually do this after the turkey starts to produce some broth. i find it's better to use a lid. if the lid doesn't fit, or for people who don't have a lid, i would use tin foil. i also put a little bit of water in the pan before throwing the turkey in the oven. i do this because otherwise the turkey dries out. i find that with a lid or tin foil covering the turkey, the turkey stays nice and moist

I have been in this situation myself and found it easier to use tinfoil over the top of the turkey and forget about the lid of the roast pan altogether.
