Sorry Wolfie is on a rant ok "What is the point in getting us to recycle" when we are forever getting free papers, adverts, leaflets in fact a whole load of rubbish still posted through the door?
We do our bit in fact we recycle everything that is recyclable, we have a box for tins and cans, a box for glass, a box for plastic and a box for paper, we even recycle wasted food by using it to make compost!
But I get so annoyed when we do all this and we are constantly bombarded with more paper in the door, we get 3 or 4 free papers each week, no point in putting up a sign to say NO FREE PAPERS, but the deliverer cannot read or doesn't see the well placed sign and it won't make any difference to the printers, they still print the same amount of papers. Why not just ONE free paper that is enough, the papers all tell the same stories, display the same ads anyhow, it seems utterly ridiculous
So why are we trying to save the environment and help the planet if they keep chopping down more trees to make adverts which no one reads and just adds to the problem?
Free catalogues as well put through your door, glossy pictured ones that just end up in the bin, if you want them REQUEST them don't give them to everyone, that is just a blatant waste
Can't anyone see that by sending out tonnes and tonnes of adverts it's just adding to the environmental problems, recycling is like peeing in the wind
So just don't bother wasting precious time cutting down the poor trees to make more rubbish post them through my letterbox!
Do you get angry or irritated by the amount of junk that is posted through your door and do you wonder why we recycle, what message is this sending out to people?

I have the same problem and also don't see the point in having to recycle various things to save the planet and then having three lorries to collct instead of one. What we save with recycling is easily cancelled out by the extra pollution caused by the lorries. As usual the governments try to put the onus on the whole population and do nothing to help. Better stop now as I get very cross about a lot of these issues.

I agree with you, Wolfie. Until recently, I was delivering free papers and, while there were one or two people who actually wanted them, the majority apparently did not want them. It's good in a way for those who can, perhaps, not get out very easily or couldn't buy a paper but it is a considerable waste, especially with all the junk which tends to come with them. And, as for the other junk that comes through, we keep some of the takeaway menus but everything else immediately ends up in "file 13". I also wonder the point of recycling when there is so much waste. Another thing I wonder is why clothes aren't made of natural materials any more. Surely, it is better for the environment to use cotton than manufacture nylon and things.

I worry about the earth! In my town, people are trying to improve something! But I don't know weather the situation will get better!

Hi there wolfie34
I do get really irritated when the postman posts junk through my letter box and that is all. I feel like running after him and try to give it back as that is all he has posted and I don't want it. He has to post that junk in everybodies letter box so that must make his job a lot harder too not to mention the extra tread he is wearing out on his shoes!

yep , it is horrible . Although I d have to say many companies are going more for a less paper ave. Although banking online and paying bills there gets scarier each day it does save the environment . I would love to switch everything over online but until they do something about all the billions lost on the net per year , I will stay safe about . I do think they need to regulate how much mail a company can put out to spam your mail boxes n matter how much the company wants to spend on it. If the would do this it would help a lot .

Hi wolfie, This may will be a subject that is worth ranting about, a lot of people are becoming fed up with the amount of garbage coming through the mail. If enough people speak out, we may see something being done about it. In the meantime though, we just have to keep on recycling, at least if the world gets buried in trash, it won't be our fault. Hopefully the ever expanding Internet will eventually solve the problem, but don't stop the protest yet. Blessings.

I know what you mean. I have a post office box and since they are so small they just keep jamming those flyers in it. I don't get there enough to pick up my mail as I don't live anywhere near it anymore but I want to keep it because with moving around so much I like to keep one address consistantly. I only get to it about once a week and there are usually hundreds of flyers in it by then. hehe
I have received some of my regular mail, bills and stuff, and sometimes they are so squashed from all the flyers that I have to iron it before I can read it.
I have put in a notice with the post office, no flyers please , and I think they read it as flyers please because I seem to get so many of them. What a waste of money, all that paper. I do recycle them but sometimes they just pile up in my car and then I usually end up throwing them in the garbage because I have no more room on my back seat floor for people to put their feet. hehe

hi wolfie you make a very valid point theere.why cut down more trees to send us free stuff we dont want, and repeated stuff.
It sort of defeats the idea of recycling doesnt it? We dont
'ask for all this stuff, but we still get it any way. waste of time, money, and trees.

Personally I am not concerned much with global warming and such, I think we should be free to use the trees if we own them.but also responsible enough to replace them, and grow new ones. I also think we need to take care of our oceans, but I like the Fliers and the newspapers and all the other stuff, I like recieving them, but I wish the recycling program out here was more accessable. or that I had a woodstove, and I wish that businesses could be prosecuted for dumping waste into the ocean, because thats the one that really get to me, so much pollution in our ocean... so little being done about it
