I am a Model by profession here in the Philippines. I gained 20lbs in just 1month when I stopped working. I wanted to lose weight so that I can work again, but how the hell can I work if I am 140lbs now? I wanted to know if crash diet is advisable since I've been hearing bad feedbacks about it. Like loss of lean tissue, can lead to malnutrition etc. Mylotters, I want to get your opinion regarding crash diets.
Is it dangerous?
Thanks!
Hope to hear from you!

If you are refering to taking too much diet pills, I remember that actress Francine Prieto was hospitalized due to the same reason. Not eating regularly actually worsens the situation(depriving oneself give oneself urge to eat more to suppy for the missing nutrition). It is better to have a regular food intake. Try regular tea drinking and hot bath. Metabolism is the key.

From what I know, crashed dieting has some health risks. You will not get the right nutrients when you go on this diet and you tend to become easily tired, irritable and lethargic, and even crave for more food.
The best way to get down to your healthy weight and feel and look your best is to do it slowly. A balanced diet and moderate regular exercise will gently get you toned up, and keep the weight off for good. You can read an article about it in thesite.org/healthandwellbeing.

Yes they are very bad for your health. I wanted to go on a crash diet once and my doctor told me not to as they are very bad for your health since you are not taking in enough nutrients. I think it depends on what you eat for a crash diet and how long you do it. Never do it for longer than a week at the most. If you use those meal replacements which are supposed to be nutritionally balanced then you could probably do it for a short time.
But do not miss meals as your metabolism will slow down if you do this and you will not lose weight. If you skip a meal when you are hungry then your body thinks that there might not be any food coming for a while so it slows down so that the fat storage gets used very slowly and you burn calories slower.

I think since you are a model your face has a lot of importance for you. So try and avoid crash diet. Since you have recently gained weight it is easier for you to loose weight. So just try and keep your diet healthy and work out a little. I am sure you will see the changes very soon. Happy working out.

weight gain can depress you,but dont worry.i advise you not to do crash dieting as it is not good.it depletes your body with essential nutritions and makes you fell lethargic and tired.the best way to to lose weight is have small proportions of meal whenever you feel hungry.eat healthy include fruits and vegetables, and take out time to workout or exercise.lose wait steadly and be patient.take care.

I'm a health educator and I can tell you without a doubt that crash diets are dangerous and mean to your body. People die from engaging in these kind of diets. Before you undergo any major diet see your doctor first. Don't just embark on your own. That's how people get in trouble.

Crash diets are very dangerous! They can lead to many health problems and once you start eating normally again you are likely to gain the weight back plus more!
The best way to lose weight is to eat the calories you need in a day but instead of eating 2 or 3 meals eat smaller meals more often. To stop you losing lean tissue you need to exercise and it doesn't have to be going to a gym, just walking more and doing normal house-work chores faster than normal can really burn off extra calories.

It depends on the person doing the diet. We all know that skipping meals and self starvation are bad, so if the dieter is desperate enough to risk it then he or she will really get into trouble. I don't do it at all. SOmetimes I try to avoid eating sweets but I never do anything risky. I'd rather be fat and healthy than thin and dying. You should just do diet and exercise and maybe yoga. Don't take any pills too. 20 lbs isn't that hard to lose... :)

crash diets appear to work but they never do. if a person desperate to lose weight undergoes such as regimen, he or she will appear to lose weight - rapidly, therefore, it will look like everything is working out quite as planned. but that is where all the lie starts. this rapid weight loss is the result of the body eating up its limited store of a certain carbohydrate called glycogen. this use of glycogen makes the body lose water; thus, the appearance of losing weight. but the truth is, the body is not losing any of its body fat - what you aimed to lose in the first place.

Crash dieting is dangerous. :( I have tried it before. :( It messes up your metabolism. It can make you feel light-headed and dizzy. I have passed out before. And, worst of all, when you finally give in to the overwhelming hunger, you eat MORE than ever BEFORE, and you gain all the weight back PLUS more! It's just not good! :(

No, I don't think a diet is dangerous actually I think they are great because it can really help you get back in good shape and it helps you to feel great about yourself again and you don't have to worry about how much your weight was before you decided to go on that diet.
