Changing Decorations For The Season

No I'm not ready for that season yet, but I do love a bit of fall color in my home. I have an arrangement that I made several years ago that I like for a short period of time. It has a lot of oranges in it and that gets old very quickly.
I got the arrangement out and even though it's been in a box wrapped with a plastic bag it was yuck! There's no way I can keep dust out of anything here.
I had to clean it up and re arrange everything before I could put it out. I thought it might be helpful to others to know how to clean silk arrangements so I wrote an e How article on it. You can see it here. http://www.ehow.com/how_4552599_clean-silk-flowers.html
How about you? Do you change the decorations in your house seasonally?

Oh boy! Do I remember that! Not only time consuming, but it seems there's never enough money even for the little things needed to change decorations out when you have little ones.

That is so true about not having money. I never dreamed I'd ever be this broke.

Yes I do try to change the decorations for the seasons. I am running behind with the fall season starting right now. I need to get out to the shed and get busy digging out the rest of the Halloween/Fall arrangements. I think you have struck a chord within me to get it done this weekend! I will have one of the boys to go get it for me. I do have some Halloween lights up outside and some mums. Got to get the rest done now! Thanks for the nudge!

I used to decorate for holidays when my youngest daughter was at home. When the oldest ones were home I didn't have time or money, but with the youngest it was different, and she was greatly into Halloween and St. Patrick's Day, and of course Christmas. I don't do any holidays any more except Christmas, and not much then. I wish I had a storag shed. Oh, no I don't. It would just collect more stuff that I should get rid of!

This is always good to knoe. Although I am so bad with plants, I even kill silk ones. Or maybe they just were incredibly dusty.

I use to, but lately no time. I am now limited to only Christmas decorations. You must have been reading my mine. About 4 hours ago, I was looking at some silk dusty floral arrangements and wondering how to clean them. I am going to read your article because nothing I have tried so far has clean them to my liking.

I used to think about it, does that count?*LOL*
The only time I change things in my house is at Christmas. I love that time of the year. I come up with all kinds of ideas when it comes time to decorate for Christmas.
I would like, someday to get my butt in gear and decorate for Halloween and Thanksgiving, too.

Of course thinking about it counts! It'll never happen if you don't think about it. And if I spent as much time and energy on Christmas as you do, I'd be worn out the rest of the year.

Hmmmm, maybe that's why I don't do it any other time.

no... I am 16... and my mom doesnt have time for it... and doesnt like me changing some things... But I dream of it...and dream of what I will do, I dream of getting glitter leaves and spreading them on the columns of our porch, and makeing herbal wreaths with orange and red dried flowers and hanging them on the door... makeing tea in the evening, and putting a pretty table runner on the table and with a vase for the flowers... Mom would let me do it if I could afford it...but I can't so for now... I dream.

Keep dreaming LilPixelle. Your ideas sound really pretty. I especially like the herbal wreaths with orange and red flowers. . .and the tea in the evening with the pretty table setting.

I enjoy the changing seasons, so, yes, I decorate differently as they change. I have wreaths, flower arrangements, pumpkins and scarecrows I put out for autumn. They stay until the day after Thanksgiving (I add turkeys before Thanksgiving)then I take down everything and decorate for Christmas. Around April or May I put out spring things like pastel arrangements and birds.

No not anymore. I used to when I was younger. I do like decorating at Christmas time. It has to be my favorite holiday.

I got rid of alot of my decorations a good while back and just kept favorites.
I like to set out a few pumpkins /fall items that I leave up from Oct through Thanksgiving, then I set out Christmas and put up the fall things. I have gotten away from Jack o lanterns so it will go fine through Thanksgiving and in spring, I might do bunnies, and soft colors but try to limit any eggs or things that limit it to Easter.
