Don't you hate spam and all of the chain emails people send you that claim you must send this email to 10 people and a huge check is going to be sent to you by next week or some other CRAZY mess.
So I wanted to ask you do you always forward those type of chain emails on? If you do, who do you send them too and are you selective of the people you send them too?
If you don't, then what is your reasoning? Do you holler at the person(s) that sent you the email in the first place?
My inquistive mind would like to know. Thank you for responding.
Oh btw: I forward them on to a select group of co-workers, and sometimes to members of my family, if I think the message in the email was something encouraging or that warrented being spread like a mass fire.

I hate spam. And most of these spam mails may cotain virus or something like that. In some cases, If someone wants to get email ids, they will start chain mails like this. Forwarding these mails will lead to some more spam or virus. So never forward them to my people. I request all of you to do the same.

Only the emails with attachments may contain viruses. I don't download powerpoint presentations from emails unless I know the source from who sent it to me. Plus I use email virus scanning service. I don't forward the attachments in emails. If I liked the email I will copy the text out of it and forward it in a standard text non threatening email, and I don't forward emails with hundreds of other emails in it as well. I blind copy everyone I send the email to, and again it only contains the texted email, not who sent it.

I hate chain mails and I don't like receiving those kind of mils, specially the one that preaches and that says when you don't forward it something bad will happen t you. OK I am not against preaching but why do they to give threat on me? that some one dear to me will die if I did not spread the mail I received, if they are peaching about God, do they think God would like it? OK one time I received a mail saying the mail comes from the devil and if I did not forward it, I love the devil, that was really hilarious!
When I do received mails asking for help or something like an information dissemination type of mail, I check it first if it is true, if yes I do forward it sometimes.
But a friend sometimes pointed out to me (I used to forward joke and funny mails) that she would rather receive a short mail saying hi than receive those kinds which is to her impersonal.

I don't like the letters that tell you that you have to send the email to ten or more people or something bad will happen. I also don't like the one where if you send the email to 10 people you will get a person standing on a bridge or get a certificate. Those emails I just delete. But I will forward ones that are inspirational or a joke.

That's a valid point, but sometimes it because of those friends that I do it. Like I said I don't send them out to my entire address email list, just to certain select folks. Like jokes, I may send them to members of my family verses my co-workers. But if it's something inspirational, I may send it to both co-workers and family members.
But for instance, I received a couple of joke emails, I read them both, because they were short, but I decided not to forward them on, one because of the behind the scenes type message, and two, because like you said I didn't feel like cluttering up my friends email box with non-sense. The jokes I forward on have to really make me laugh, and I a big critic on comedians.

If the contents of the chain emails are meaningful, then I'll remove the bottom part of the message saying "you have send this to x number of people, otherwise...", then only I forward it to my friends. As I only want to share the meaningful contents with them, but not to involve them in the chain emails, also I don't like to see the messages, I think it's rather childish or nonsense.
I always have selective people to forward my emails to, I know some friends like to read certain types of emails, then I'll forward the emails to them.
If the contents are meaningless, then I'll just delete straight.
