Hit by lightning or have a close call?

My nephew once experienced a lightning strike that hit the goal which he was standing under. His hair stood on end and he says he felt a strong tingling. He knows of a friend who was hit on the golf course where it struck the metal button on his baseball cap (I find it hard to believe one could survive this).

Hi,
I have never had any close calls with lightening, but my roommate has been struck two times by lightening. The one time he was doing some roofing work when he was struck, knocked off the roof and went unconscious. Both of the instances he must have gotten very lucky because he is fine. Although the odd thing is that afterwards he claims he is very nervous to be near electrical sources such as outlets because he often gets a little "shock" when he plugs things in. Perhaps the lightening "charged" him up some how. Very strange. I don't remember all the details of the incidents but now I think I am going to ask him to re-tell the stories later for shock value. (no pun intended).
