Today at McDonalds in the Parking lot this cat..

We were leaving McDonalds today..having stopped there for a quick lunch..and we saw a beautiful cat sitting there in the parking lot. This was in a very busy shopping section..And she/he when you got close was so famished. I felt so bad that I hadn't anything to give it; but, what hurt me more is that someone probably dropped this cat off. Poor thing was there waiting for someone to have pity on it. Why would anyone drop a cat in such a busy parking lot.

I would've tried to pick up the cat up - my friends know I am speaking the truth!

Since I wasn't sure what to do..I didn't .. I had a distance to drive and I really didn't know how the cat would behave in the car since I had no cat carrier.

Well good for you..if you want I can tell you where I saw it..if you want to go see if she is still there.. I could not risk having her claw me as I drove.. I had a friend who has MR and couldn't risk an accident. I love cats immensely!

I don't care, that cat would've been in my car if I could've caught it.

Yes: it's sad and I couldn't really beileve what I was seeing ..Usually at McDonalds you see birds flying around..picking up scraps..but a cat? I know she/he didnt just happen to come upon the restaurant and park herself.

Oh that would have broken my heart, people for some reason treat cats like this, I am not sure what i would have done, if it was friendly I probably would have been tempted to bring it home but who is to say maybe it belonged to someone aroun the area...I hope it is ok though...

The cat was kind of friendly but I had 2 cats in side and the ones outside end up disappearing. I have a neighbor who has flat out said she cant stand cats.

yes I have a cat that i just took in after feeding her and decided to keep her I have often though about getting her some company but I am not sure she would like that, I don't want to make her feel like she has to share her little world if she doesn't want to...

Actually I got my cat a friend because when I am gone she has to stay home alone and it's really nice for cats to have friends..Both my cats I got from the pet shop. They are really nice. At first the oldest: Missy swatted Gracie for a day .. but never hurt her and by day 3 they were laying down side by side..washing each other and loving each oother like sisters from the same "mommy cat"

hi littlefranciscan it is unbelievable what people will do in regards to pet cats and dogs. I grew up on a farm, in south dakota, and people would drop off unwanted puppies and cats, and even little kitten on our private road.welived about a mile from our home town. We had to scrounge aroung to find homes for most of them as we already had at least three cats and one dog. ifelt so sorry for these little creatures, but Iwill credit my dad, he never got rid of them as some farmers might do, he found homes for all of them, except the ones we kept as pets.

Hi Hatley that is admirable ..as I have said in many my responses..if only I had a farm.. My farm would have cats and dogs running freely..probably would like like the garden of Eden once again.. I don't think that when animals were created that they were supposed to be used and abused as badly as some people do them.

I agree with you..if you know the taste of country living, city life leaves you starving. I lived in Portugal and worked the fields and pulled fruit from the pear and apple trees..Shoveled manure and ate roasted chestnuts thrown on makeshift fire and miss the life immensely..I have an office job but working the ground , feeling the dirt with your fingers and feeling physically exhausted from tilling the ground is a good wholesome feeling. THe exhaustion of clerical or city jobs is not the same..

me either, when i grew up and moved away from the farm, i truly missed it so much. I just to envy the town kidsl, but I didnt know how good I had it,lots of room to play, plenty of good home grown veggies and fruits, and milk and eggs. I envy that kind of life now stuck in the big cities.People should] not get pets if they are not going to love them and care for' them.

Ah, that's so sad. I hate to see a cat out like that. I see them all the time and I could never understand why someone would do that either. I saw a kitten one time and it barely looked like it was old enough to be taken from it's mamma. It was on the side walk one day and it didn't belong to anyone near us and for a kitten that small would have had to have just been left there. I really didn't want another cat but I took him inside and fed him and I found someone that wanted a kitten. It is so sad to see cats at any age just running around the neighborhood without a home constantly looking for food. That isn't something I could never do. I won't even let my cat go outside.

That is so nice of you to take the little kitten in and find it a home. I use to let my cats out ..but there is someone in our neighborhood that is superstitious. I let my angel out and he was poisoned..because he was black. The two girls I have now; gracie and missy; I wont let out at all.

I know..and this McDonals was across the river from us; which is right of the main highway road..full of business, car sales places, resturants and malls..no place for a little kitty to be dropped off..I am heart broken ...but hoping someone who like cats picked her up; since I could not do so at that moment.

I can't believe that! How can someone do that? That's worse than leaving a cat somewhere. We live on the main intersection in our town and that's why we don't let ours out. I'm too afraid of him getting hit. I am so sorry to hear that happened.

awww. that's awful. you know here in the Philippines, it is not very unusual to see famished cats and kittens around. 99% are not from certain breeds (something like hybrid form of stray cats) and most of them run around the streets like crazy. i know they have organizations against animal cruelty here but i think it's not well-funded by the government so the kitty (sometimes dogs) goes running around the highways and end up getting squashed. it's not really unusual to see squashed dogs/cats here so i think the "higher people" are not very alarmed by the situation.

I understand..but perhaps..you can have the mothers and fathers fixed..Do you do that there? in the states we have cats and dogs spayed and neutered..if we have them as pets and don't want them to keep reproducing.

these are all such sad facts..perhaps if mylotters in each of their locations would start a movement agaisnt the abandonment of pets. .. on highways and busy locations..we can eliminate such things from happening?

people don't really bother to have them fixed. it's really not a national emergency and because of the "too-little" government funds (and increased level of poverty of course), they would rather spend the money for buying medicines for sick children. it's a little depressing to know that some living creatures are left for granted. but we really can't do anything about these. i just hope that one day they would get a good allocation for our animal welfare groups.

That's probably why they did it...to get more ppl to see it and a better chance for someone to take it home. I know I would have if I'd been there. I can't stand to see animals in need...if you can't keep your cat or dog, at least love them enough to either find them another home or give them to a shelter where they are at least warm and fed...they deserve that much at the very least. McDonalds ..there where we went is so busy and the street is a major highway road..Where is the cat to go? She was shocked into fear..Imagine her thoughts..to be left alone in such a strange place.. Makes me want to cry.

There are mysteries in this universe that are so difficult to fathom. Why do the galaxies rotate the way they do? Why do cats look so abandoned and so beautiful? Who knows? Cheers!!

Yes mysteries or should we call it tragedies???Usually mysteries are linked to the Divine and tragedies to humans..I wish that there were not so many animals dropped off like this.

Someone who is callous and uncaring I expect, someone that is gutless and just could not be bothered trying to rehome it. I would have ended up taking it away with me if I had been there! I hate seeing animals on the street it just cuts me up.

I wish I could have but as I say I had a passenger and this could have caused an accident since I had no carrying case..I couldn't risk havign the passenger who has slight MR to be injured..This was a case of the lesser of two evils..I did pray for someone to come pick it up; and I trust God heard my prayer and someone came to rescue it.

What a sad little kitty. Both of our cats were taken in because they were abandoned in parking lots. People who do that, if caught, should be prosecuted. Some of the cats abandoned like that are adopted, most are not. It's heartbreaking when this happens.

Is that why they leave them in the parking lot? That is so very sad. It's so dangerous that someone would do that. I pray someone took her home..I couldn't as I had a MR person who would had not handled a wild cat to well..It broke my heart.

I agree.w.ith all the rescue places, animal shelters, and even last result humane societies..someone could have given them a warmer place to rest if they didnt want them.

Is sad that with so many programs for people to have their pets spayed and neutered at reduced cost, or free, that people don't take advantage of them. It would be so simple to reduce the population of stray and unwanted pets.
