How many times a day do you feed your cats?

I try to feed my four cats at least two or three times a day. Most times, I leave a small bit of food out for the cats to snack on, just in case they get hungry. And, since one of our cats is a little piggy and steals the other cats food, they end up eating at various times. How often do your feed your cats during the day?

I "free feed" my cats, but I don't have time to feed the hoard of cats individually.

what do you usually feed to your cats individually? Would you be referring to cat treats.

Except for Taj, because he's sick and the 2 old cats, we just leave food in a large bowl for the cats to eat, its called "free feeding." Even giving treats is mostly throwing them out and fending for themselves, only a few specials get treats set aside.

I have two cats. I feed them at least three times a day excluding snacks and supper. They did fight for food last time, but not anymore now. Had a hard time teaching them not to fight for food. It seems like they're eating more than me. They are really growing up fast! (side-ways)

i just have a bowl of dry food out at all times. if i didn't,the wailing and fighting would commence immediately. most of the time they're not nibbling.they just want to see it's there.

i have 5 cats , i feed them twice a day. they have canned or sachet food in the morning. they all have separate bowls. plus a big bowl of water in the kitchen, one outside the back door and a double bowl of water in the greenhouse. they all go out side during the day while i am at work. there are cats baskets, carpets squares and blankets and cushions in the greenhouse and plenty of shade for them if it gets too hot. during the evening , they have cat biscuits, again in separate bowls. they all have their own area in the kitchen where they like to eat. they meow extremely loudly while they are waiting , but apart from my old sally ( about 19/20 yrs old and a little bit senile) they do not pinch each others food.they stay indoors of a night. and might have a bowl of milk each before i go to bed.

My cat always has food on his bowl because I know he likes snacking all the day. As he never leaves home he can't get food in other place.

We leave dry food out all the time for our cat. He also eats soft food at breakfast, supper and before bed. He definitely knows his routine and comes to let us know if we're late with his soft food!

I keep dry food out for her all the time but she also gets a spoon of tuna each time we have a meal. She loves it and the vet says it's good for her. ~~IN SEARCH OF PEACE WITHIN~~ **AGAINST THE STORMS, I WILL STAND STRONG**

When I had one cat, the feeding looked alike - the cat got pâté or ragou, and in the neighbouring bowl dry food which I only supplemented if necessary. Now I have 4 cats and feeding them is practically a war. The one which he is eating longest has the sizeable audience and as something he is leaving it different certainly bowls will sweep eating from the surface up. I am feeding them twice a day and from time to time they are getting some remains after the dinner. They don't look gaunt ;) However one he is visiting neighbours regularly and she will always manage to wheedle something out of them...

I feed my two once a day, they get the same raw meat and veg as the dog and they have dry food left out for if they get hungry. Sometimes they eat it but most of the time they ignore it. The younger one will eat any fruit or veg including those she's not supposed to so we have to be very careful to keep onions and grapes out of her reach! With other cats I used to just leave dry cat food out but several got urinary tract infections and then the oldest one I still have got Kidney disease. The vet told me to give him wet food as he doesn't drink enough water so we started buying the pouches and that helped though he still needed medication. Then I got the dog who'd been fed on the barf diet which the cats decided they wanted too. Since feeding him raw meat he's come off the meds and now at 18 is fitter than he was at 8! Both cats are at their ideal weights and only see the vet twice a year for check ups. He feeds his own dogs on the barf diet but hadn't heard of it being used for cats but has told me to carry on with it as it's obviously working for them.

I have four cats a well. I feed my cats 3 times a day. They get dry food in the morning and late at night and canned food 5.30 in the afternoon. I'll feed all my cats at once.

We have two official eating times, but like you, we leave food out for them to snack on.

My cats are both nibblers. They hardly eat more that a mouthful at a time, but eat throughout the day. I also have two chihuahuas who look at found food as a gift from above, and make short work of whatever they find. I never have crumbs anywhere in the house...lol. I have to leave the catfood on the coumter, away from the dogs. If the feeder is empty, I end up with both cats glaring at me, so I make sure there is food out all the time.

They get canned food in the mornings and their bowl filled with dry food at night. Our cats are on the heavy side and need to lose some weight, so they're on a diet. If I leave food out all the time, they just eat and eat and eat.

I think it depends on how many cats you have and how your cat eats. I only have one cat and he has to have food in his bowl all day. I fill it up every morning and the food lasts all day until the next morning when I fill it again. I don't know if this is recommended but if I gave him less and fed him twice a day instead, I will hear contant crying for food from him. Yes, I let him have his way.....lol

One of our cats is thin and needs to eat more the other is fat and needs to eat less. so I discourage him (the chubby one) from eating after he has eaten for a while, but the thin one is finicky too so she eat when she WANTS too even if she ASKED for the food. so its hard to keep him out of it, but usually we manage... somehow, I feed them wet food about once a day, and then mom and my brother nathan feed them wet food in small portions several times throughout the day on the thin ones pleadings.
