Are You In a "Pro-American" Area?

If not, then Sarah Palin doesn't really enjoy visiting your region. I'm really not sure how Sarah, whose own husband reportedly belonged to a group wishing for Alaska to secede from the U.S. and who herself addressed this group on more than one occasion, seems to think there are some parts of our country that are somehow anti-American!
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/10/17/enough-with-%E2%80%98joe-the-plumber%E2%80%99-palin-says/
"We believe that the best of America is not all in Washington, D.C. We believe, we believe that the best of America is in the small towns that we get to visit, and in the wonderful little pockets of what I call the 'real America,' being here with all of you hard working very patriotic, very pro-America areas of this great nation," she said.
"This is where we find the kindness and the goodness and the courage of everyday Americans. Those who are running our factories, and teaching our kids, and growing our food, and fighting our wars for us. Those who are protecting us in uniform. Those who are protecting the virtues of freedom."
(End of excerpt)
I guess SOME of us must live where the people aren't hard working, aren't protecting us in uniform and aren't patriotic. Does that mean if we live in a "blue state" our loved ones who have served are or serving in one or both of our current wars or even those who have been permanently injured or even killed somehow aren't part of Sarah Palin's America?
Are John McCain and she running for President and Vice President of the UNITED States of America or just certain parts of America and are "Pro-America" and "Pro McCain/Palin" actually one and the same?
Since visiting “pro-America” areas of the country is a bright note for her, I really don't think I want her for my V.P. since I want a President and Vice President who cares about ALL of America!

Thank you for bring up the Alaskan Indpendence Party. To think that Sarah claims Ayers is a problem while she "sleeps" with someone who wants to create his own country of Alaska. OUCH ... and we are supposed to have that as first dude? Doesn't there have to be a security check to be the VP or the First Dude? By the way, since I count Obama as a FRIEND even though I have never met him, I must be considered coming from an non-pro-American side of the country.

Haven't seen her any closer to my neck of the woods than Philadelphia. I live in a small town where people teach and work hard. But I don't think Sarah would like it here very much because it's a very Quaker area that is anti war and it's smack dab in a very blue state. We come from the same state Annie, and even though it is the REAL America to us, I think Pennsylvania is so blue that it's now completely out of play for the Republicans. I think Sarah is wasting her time even coming to Philly at this point and she and her boss should just write us off altogether. I wouldn't mind if she did. LOL

I just came back across this discussion and decided to reply. What really tickled me after it was all over was despite McCain and Palin making tons of trips to the Scranton/Wilkes/Barre area they lost by about 34 percentage points! We're bluer than ever!

OMGnniepa! I'm a Floriddian, and everyone knows this is a state that can't count so we don't know who wins or loses elections. Does that mean we're pro-American or anti-Americans?
Has Joe McCarthy been reincarnated?

I hate to tell her but there are a whole bunch of those little pockets of small town America here in Florida who ain't buying what she's sellin! If she would like to come down here and tell us how un-American we are I'm sure we can show her the door, southern style.

Do you think it's possible that Pro-America is just that part of Alaska that doesn't want to be part of America? lol I wonder if we could put all of those Pro-Americans (red states) into just one state until the election is over so they can have their little hater gathering and no one has to hear all that BS. Think that Sarah will get her own little "S" flag too? lol

I can't imagine living in a red state, so I guess that makes me a REAL America hater, right? Earlier, when Pennsylvania looked a bit more "iffy", I was trying to decide whether to move to New York, New Jersey or Delaware. I didn't want to go too far away but I had to go to the BLUE!!

Everyone's been talking about the "pro-America" part of her statement, but what about the "real America" part? Seriously, can we divide the populace any further? I guess I'm living in "fake America" along with millions of others who are
creating community gardens to feed the people,
establishing farmer's markets so that we can buy locally grown produce,
patronizing small local grocery chains that are committed to offering local dairy, meat and produce,
pitching in with sweat equity to rebuild the houses in our neighborhoods so that people have more places to live,
sweeping the streets with our own brooms because the city had to cut the budget accorded to street cleaning,
starting small businesses like barber shops, bakeries, restaurants, delis, small markets, toy stores,
where we pass around addresses of neighborhood boys serving overseas so that we can all write to them,
yep, that's us, right here in fake America. I'm glad she's made it clear that she doesn't consider me part of her "real America". It makes it all the easier to vote for the candidate that doesn't draw those kinds of divisive lines.

Actually, Annie, I don't. For the first time in decades, Virginia is turning blue! Seriously, I couldn't believe she said that. Like you, I want a President and VP who is for all areas of the country. She did say later that she didn't mean that there were un-American or less patriotic areas of the country. But, why did she say it if it wasn't what she meant?

As usual, Gov Palin is making polarizing comments. Sen McCain may be reaching across the ailes but his running mate is dividing the country with her comments. No one will call her on it either. Thankfully, Colin Powell stated that he does not feel that Palin is ready to be President of the U.S. I don't think I've heard anyone of authority stating the obvious until now. I just don't get why McCain chose her.
You think you are worried about living in a red state - I live in Texas (ugh!). The way I see it, we're red because we're embarrassed.
