Here is a good question, do you think it is ever okay to tell a lie ???.Is there a difference between a good lie (like a lie told so that you dont hurt someones feelings over something silly or unimportant like "does this dress look good on me?") or a big bad lie (like not admitting to cheating on your partner etc) ?.
ARE THESE BOTH BAD TYPES OF LIES?
ALSO, what is the biggest lie you have ever told and do you regret it?

Yep agreed... telling someone a dress looks good and really it is horrible is okay, your saving hurting their feelings and if theyre happy to wear it then who are you to stop them?
BUT lying to not get caught cheating on your partner or protect someone who did something really wrong is a bad lie.

Personally i dont think its ok to lie to anyone for any reason. Not white lies, not even lies of omission. There is always a way to tell the truth without hurting someone's feelings. But honesty is necessary for a good, strong, healthy relationship, whether that is friendship, family, or romantic. Lies ALWAYS catch up to you, and then the lie hurts the person more than just telling the truth would have.

Actually i grew up watching my brother lie...little lies, big lies, it didnt matter to him. But his lies always came back to haunt him, because he couldnt keep them straight. I think this is true of everyone, you lie and eventually you will forget who you told what lie to and slip up.

Thanks for replying to the post Lilaclady, yes i hate hurting peoples feelings to the point where i cant sleep at night if theres a problem so i would be more inclined to tell a white lie and say "yep that dress looks good" even though its a shocking dress - but i would try to guide them towards a dress that actualy did look good and suit them better by saying "hey this is cute try this on" so that way id be telling the truth.

I don't think it's ever okay to tell a lie- even those little white lies. You have to be honest with someone because if they found out you lied, then their trust for you would go "poof." There is a difference, but in the end, lying will get you no where. I've never told a lie- never. I feel that being honest with someone gets me brownie points and that allows me to feel better about myself.

i was just reading a post by diannebcrs where she wrote a post about how she tells continuous lies and lives in her lies lie a controllable world of her own, i couldnt help but tell her how my dad was a compulsive liar and not only was it embaressing but it tore our family apart.
Unfortunately i cant cut and paste as im a newbie or i'd show it for peoples opinions.

hi
I think when we tell a lie - it's just a lie which is never wise. To save someone or not to hurt anyone, if we lie that's also a lie. In modern era, it is difficult not to tell a lie, even unknowingly we often tell a lie. Then we try to put a logic that it's good lie otherwise such and such bad things would happen. It's just our interpretation.
