just purchased a new cat a persian

hi i just purchased a persian kitten and she is so shy always hiding and unless we take her out she always sleeps and hides we have had her a week now any suggestians on how to help her over come this and be more sociable also when she does come out and we pick her up she is lovable and loves to be pet and purrs quite loud

Cats don't like changes at all. When they have changes in their life, they go crazy and really they don't know how to deal with it. Playing with her and showing her more attention will allow her to come out of her shell a little. Also, perhaps having people come over and slowly pet her will let her know that humans are good. Take your time with it- don't rush. If you rush it, she will digress and become less sociable and then you're back to Square 1. Good luck with the new kitten!!
