surfing internet for friends is correct?

I have a friend that I don't talk to much anymore, but we used to talk quite a bit. We met on a Merle Haggard web site. Then we found out that although neither one of us lived in Kentucky any more, that we were both originally from there. We became friends and shared ideas and jokes with each other. I don't think there is anything at all wrong with having friends that you meet online. As a matter of fact, I think it can help people from feeling lonely and depressed. I have a lot of people I consider friends here on myLot and on a few other sites on the net. Good luck to you in meeting friends that share your interests!
