We really aren't as bad as you might guess from reading some of our discussions. We sometimes get a bit passionate about our politics but I consider that a good thing as long as people "play nice." I have lived in Panama, Japan, Bahrain and now England but I am an American. I think what you are seeing in our political race this time around is Republican Party has lost it way. To say Republican used to mean you were in favor of smaller government, a strong military and a balance budget. Well the last eight years has been terrible. We have fought a war of personal choice (Iraq never did attack us or any of our allies) but we took out their governement and have been mired for years to the tune of 10 billion dollars a year. On top of that, it has severly hampered our military's ability to focus on other issues around the world. We never did get the guy who attacked us, Bin Laden. While we waged this war, the Republicans didn't pay for the war. This is in direct opposition to one of its basic tenants. As such you see many Republicans in the middle of the political spectrum joining with the Democrats as a saner way to survive the current economic crisis. So what you have left in the Republican party is pretty far right which is more religious and has a tendancy to wrap itself in the flag. Now that is not to mean that the Democrats are not patriotic. I volunteered for the army and fought in Vietnam and I currently work for the Department of Defense. Further my father, grandfather and my son have all fought in wars. My son was in the navy and worked off the coast of Iraq for a reasonable amount of his four year hitch. Go back to what I was saying, we don't tell people if you don't believe like we belive you are unAmerican. Well that in a nutshell is our current situation. Now when you get a response from a Republican, you will hear that I am totally wrong but that is all right. We are still pretty nice people when you get us alone. :-) Come visit us. We need you tourist dollars.

Although I don't think either Obama or McCain will really help the United States,I think they will help foreigners a lot more than United States citizens. We're in a crisis across this country and no one in our government seems to know how to handle it.Maybe if they would listen to the people that elected them, instead of big business, they would do a better job. Hey,that's a novel idea!!!

Do you honestly think that an American president could help foreigners more than Americans?

If his name is Barrack Obama. He's already said he's for giving amnesty and drivers licenses to illegal immigrants.Obviously,he doesn't care what the American people want.
