When I turned 25, some friends wanted to take me out to a movie for my birthday. On the way to the movies (wink, wink) we needed to stop by my friend Julie's sister's apartment complex. Julie's sister was getting married and was having a shower (or so I thought) in the pool house there the next day. We needed to drop off some party supplies. So she handed me the bag and in the door we went. SURPRISE!! There were about 20 of my friends there. I was shocked. I was actually carrying in the party supplies for my own party. It was a great one too! Much better than whatever movie we were thinking of seeing.
I think everyone should have at least one surprise party in their life? How about you? Did you have a surprise Birthday party? Anniversary party? Shower? other? Tell me about it.

A couple of years ago, I wanted to do something special for my husband on his birthday. His birthday is around Mother's Day and the kids always do something nice for me on Mother's Day but my husband always seems to be left out. So, I told my kids I didn't want anything that we should have a surprise party for him. We had it at my daughter's house. But, I think he figured it out before we got there. We had a good time tho.

No, I never had a surprise party of any kind, though when I was a kid I helped keep it from my sister (she's older by 2 1/2 years) that she was getting one. I'm pretty sure it was for her 10th birthday, though it was a long time ago. LOL It felt good that my mom trusted me to be able to keep it a secret and when my sister, my mom, and I arrived at the pizza place where it was being held everyone from her class yelled surprise! I was relieved not to have to keep it a secret any longer! LOL
Something tells me that's the closest I'll ever get to having a surprise party...

I always felt bad for people who were given surprise parties. As nice a thought as it is to throw someone a party its kind of like sad to embarrass them like that in front of everyone as well as maybe they really DONT want one. I always said I would be so mad if someone ever threw me a surprise party. Everyone knew I didn't want one! I had a baby shower when I was pregnant with my first child which was a girl but I knew about that one. I didnt want a second shower because I just felt bad everyone having to give me gifts all over again 3 years later when I was pregnant with my son so I made sure to let everyone know how much I didn't want a shower! I thought for sure since everyone knew how against a shower I was that I would never get thrown a surprise party! I went to a surprise party for my husbands uncle one saturday and when I came home I told my husband that I hope no one ever does that to me. The next day my sister called me and told me to come over to see her new rabbit and the animal lover I am she knew I wouldnt be able to say no to that! Earlier in the day my husband told me that I should put some makeup on and I was so furious at the time but then once at the party I was like oh my gosh thats why lol. My sister had told him to say that because she knew I would be furious if I had to be seen without any makeup on. I actually wanted mad at all I was just so embarrassed my face was like scarlet red lol. I thanked my sister for giving me a shower even know I was so against it because it was a really nice thing for her to do for me!

The key to giving a surprise party for a woman is to already make some palns for going out. That way she will dress appropriately.
I know that my mother in law never likes to have any kind of party for herself either. We have kept her wishes. She does however like to go out with just the sons and daughter in laws for an occasion. She actually even likes parties just not ones in her honor. Sounds like you are the same way.
Thanks:)

I've never had a surprise party. All the parties I had are known to me even if it is my hubby and my close friends who'd always arrange. I think... a surprise party for me will not at all succeed because I am very sharp in reading body and even eye language. Ha!ha!ha!

My mom threw me a surprise 30th birthday party but a few days before the surprise it was no longer a surprise. She didn't know that I was taking a Saturday class in college and she had planned the party during the middle of my class. I told her I couldn't just not go for a foolish reason and she broke down and told me so I had to act surprised.
