Reading in while lying down can destroy your eyes

Traditionally, my mom used to reprimand whenever i read books whiles lying down especially on my back. She said it can destroy my eyesight for some reasons she can't explain. I use to do it especially reading is my way of relaxation and i like to lie down while reading. Do you think lying while reading is bad for the eye sight?

I guess it is a no-no because it will definitely strain the eyes. You also need the proper lighting.
I just came from an opthalmologist and he said that I have eye allergies. Kind of weird and quite an expensive findings because I need to buy the eye drops.

You need proper lighting because your eyes will blink less in dark. So just remember to blink your eyes regularly and you're good to go.
