Ciao is mainly a review based website but they do allow you to participate in surveys too. In order to make money on Ciao you have to first write and submit a review. Your do this by searching your chosen product you wish to write about then to the right of it's pictures should be a menu. From this drop down menu select write a review. The following page you will see will be split up into sections explaining what to write in each one and where to provide ratings and the pros and cons of the item in question. After each review has been submitted your balance will increase (slightly more if you are using the american version as the UK one doesn't pay quite so well). You will also notice in your my ciao page that you have started to accumilate community points. The idea here is as the write reviews, rate others and comment on users reviews your community total can be inproved. It is to my understanding that the more of these points you have the more money you will make through each review you later submit. The community points work on a tiered system where you begin at white level; then once 1000 points have been earned you move on to green then with time blue and so on. I think there's about at least 7 or more of these levels to work up through.
In terms of ciao surveys I very rarely qualify for the higher paid ones offering above £1 as they are normally aimed at a specific genre of society which I don't apply to. However they do have numerous surveys on the go most of the time even if they do offer peanuts at 10p per 30 minute review. I must admit I hardly use the surveys feature now as I find it too long winded and more of a waste of time than anything.
But ciao in terms of the review site...have read forums where people have made hundreds from this site so it's definately worth a look.

To my knowledge although I don't tend to use the american site as much as the UK one you can add and accept friends on Ciao. However to my knowledge this isn't possible on the UK version instead it works on a trust principals...users that you trust and users that trust you.

I'd start by looking for products you own and then writing reviews on them
Have a look at the 'help' section on the site too for the little detail
