Do You Checkout Their Star Rating Before Responding?

I never used to bother with the star rating other than to admire or pity but lately, well after my star rating of 10 was dropped to a 9 due to participating in discussion in the wrong neighbourhood.
I was just about to respond to a post that seemed just fine to me but when I clicked it and saw that the author of the discussion had a star rating of 4 I changed my mind, closed the discussion and move on to the next one.
Am I just being a bit to nervous or do you think that contributing to a discussion from anyone with a low star rating could mess up your own GOOD star rating??

Mine just went down from a 9 and I have no idea why. I look at this posting here just like I look at life. I am ready to talk to anyone. I'm not looking at their packaging (or star ratings) in real life. I'm not going to let that stop me here.
The same thing applies for my opinion. It's mine and I'm not afraid to give it. Why answer a discussion if you can't be honest about how you feel? It's a shame that others can't seem to resist hitting the negative rating for those they don't agree with. That is trying to intimidate others. I'm not buying it!

My rating is just 4. Really do not know why. I have never been rude to anybody I try to add posts with ideas and to present my own opinion. Not just senseless words. Despite of that I got this low rating. I think there are many people like my, who have been rated this low but they are despite of that good and honest myLotters with interesting opinions and discussions. I do not think not responding to low rated myLotter is good. And I am not talking this just because I got low rating too, I think it is just not fare to those people and it looks to me a bit like discrimination.

No, I do not check the star rating before responding to a discussion. If I find a discussion of interest and I have something to say, then I will usually say it (if I have time to do so), regardless of a persons star rating.
One thing I do try to avoid on here though are heated discussions, such as politics and abortions. I think this is one of the reasons my star is a 10. That and because I try to be civil and courteous to everyone on here, no matter what.

Frankly, people's star ratings don't bother me at all. I respond to any discussion which is interesting to me. When I respond, I don't even look at the star rating of that person. I just type out my post and fire it out. Neither do I speculate if responding to someone with a higher star rating will get me more earnings than to another member with a lower star rating. What matters more to me is what I write in my response.

I have never given a second though about the star rating before responding to any discussion. I still don't understand why you chose not to respond to the one with 4 star? Can you explain? So far, I respond if the discussion is interesting to me and I have soem opinion to give. Otherwise I would move on to other discussions. I had my star rating drop from 10 to 9 once. I still do not know who would have rated me negatively, but it has gone back up again. Don't worry about it, Webmann!

i have never really bothered about a peerson's star rating as long as I haved liked the question and the discussion and have gone ahead and participated. The star rating really does not bother me. What difference does it really make? Does yor earning go down with it?

I'm not concerned about my own star. I REALLY don't care about anyone else's. I've found that people with lower stars have very interesting and thought provoking discussions. If I were concerned about my star, I'd stick with coke vs. pepsi. That would be very boring to me. The star does NOTHING except give wolf packs a reason to hit the minus button.
A lower star is a badge of honor. It means that a person is willing to speak their mind and will not be stifled. I personally admire that. Even when I don't agree with their opinion. Something to think about.

I have never even thought of looking at the star rating before commenting. I comment on what interests me if someone wants to minus me (if that is what is connected to the star) then so be it. I write what I think and believe and that is that. I never knew that the star would go down for something like commenting on a subject with a lesser star number, but if it does oh well.
Im here to learn, chat and discuss and that means in anything that might catch my eye.

No, I don't do that. I reply to those who have all types of ratings. I also do not give preference to the stars. I have seen a lot of reaqlly petty behavior on this site and I tend to take it with a grain of salt. People are going to be weird once in a while. Star ratings go up and down as time goes by. I have some friends on here that are really into the rating thing and some that aren't. I just try to chat with those I accpet friends of and say what I feel. I had a 10 star once some time back. But then some "friends" rated me down when they didn't like my opinions. Oh well. I do however rate up the people that help another or myself in a discussion. If you check, most of my close myLot friends are rated really high.
Gee...I wonder why that could be?

No, I never check the person's star rating before responding to the discussion. If I have something to add or contribute to the discussion, I will do so regardless of the starter's details

Nope, I don't care about the rating of the star when I response to a certain discussion..Sometimes, I don't noticed his/her ratings but what I will be more interested is his/her discussion/topic.. If the topic (like this) makes me interest than I don't think twice or thrice to response in his/her discussion.. I will share my ideas or thoughts about his/her discussions.. The star that we have are just ratings on how active we are in here but it doesn't say whether all of your topic is bad or good.. Yes, I know that all of us wants to have a good ratings but sometimes we are not aware that we made some mistakes in posting some discussions or we don't mean it... But of course, the admin always watched all of our post and we have a certain punishment in every mistakes we've done here through deleting our discussion, minus our earnings or dropped our ratings down..
For me, I don't look at the star that you have.. I don't care whether you have a 10 star or 0 star but what matters to me more is the topic you posted and if I have something to share it with just like your topic right now.. Happy posting.. By the way, don't really feel bad about your ratings.. Don't really you can increase it again into 10..

Hi,
I never care to look at the Star rating of people who have started the discussion .
Also,I do not think that the Star rating of that person would have any effect on your own rating .

Honestly, I never paid attention to the stars or rating until everyone started talking about them. However, I don't care what star rating the person who starts the discussion has. If I'm interested in what they have to say or they are chatting about a subject that I feel like participating in, I will. To me, this site is not that much about stars, ratings or whatever, it's about talking about what interests you with other people, whether you disagree or not. It's about making friends and stating your opinions or helping others out. Guess that's why I'm not doing too well at Helium. I just don't pay that much attention to stars or ratings any more. I used to. I remember when I first signed on at Helium and found that I had gone from 91% down to 71% for some unknown reason. I started doubting myself, my writing skills and everything I wrote about. But then I decided that I was doing the best I could, that I was writing about what was interesting to me and that was all that mattered. You are never going to please all of the people all of the time so why try? Just be yourself. That's what I told myself and that's what I firmly believe in. So to judge someone or their discussion based on their stars or their rating just doesn't seem right to me. I think you're thinking too much about making money and not enough about just having fun, voicing your opinion and meeting others. Sure, the money is great but just be yourself and have fun. And don't ever be afraid to say something in fear of someone not liking what you have to say because if they are open minded, they won't mind. I have found that most people on this site are open minded and like to discuss things whether they agree with you or not. Sure there are the ones that rant and rave if you don't agree with me but for the most part, I've had loads of fun since I've been here and hope to continue.

No. It doesn't matter to me what the star rating is. Whatever interests me is what I respond to.

I don't do that, other users star rating is not important to me. I treat everyone the same. My ratings is always going up or down. The only thing I think of is who or what did I say that they didn't like. Then I just move on to the next discussion. You can't satisfy everyone.
