Briefly why I'm asking this:
I was talking the other days with a colleague about what makes you smart. She was quite pissed at the end.She said that if you're a good mathematician, physician instead of knowing that a normal cat doesn't have to be shaved that means you're smart.(The cat thing is another story..I was picking up white fur from my clothes and I said that when I'll get home,I'll shave my cat.. she thought that's a normal thing to do)
Anyway,I don't agree with what she said.My opinion is that intelligence is not entirely based on how many math problems can you solve.I met people who graduated from 2 even 3 different universities, but when they had to think fast and be quick-minded in a conversation...they were totally lost.
So,what exactly makes you smart?

certain philosopher Gadamer remarked that only a bad hermeneute (someone who philosophies the dillema of understanding) always wants to have the last word, maybe some people feel confused when they have to answer straightaway; forcing them to reply right now within a somewhat quick time isn't vey fine and doesn't mark their intelligence, their inner intelligence;)

Only that the discussions I'm talking about do not require a very deep thinking. They require only a certain knowledge about what I call elementary things, the ability to focus, well, that sort of things. When it comes to philosophy, the rules clearly change.
Best of luck
