I'm a high school student and I'm sure some of you might think that this is a very very common question and that I could easily look up on the net or ask anyone around me. Well, take this question in a different angle then. Share some "uncommon" study tips that you've developed in your school years, or perhaps you could tell some study tips that really worked on you but might not work in others.

Here are some tips for you that I had followed.
1. Make a quick reference for each subject, so that you can finish it up within 5-10 min . you can write important concept, formulae e.t.c.
2. Always study at peak concentration if you don't want to study refresh your mood and get back to work. Toppers always remains at their peak performance. Study tough topics at peak concentration, you can listen soft music w/o words while studying at peak concentration. When ever you feel lazy or procrastination stops you, switch on that music you will get back to peak performance.
3. Set priority list , which topic should have to finish earlier.
4. Study in intervals , don't sit for more than 1:30 hrs take a break.
5. Make separate time table for daily events and for syllabus that you have to finish e.g Mechanics in 2 months ,algebra in 1.5months e.t.c make sure it should be realistic and believable.
6.For pending tasks set a deadline, deadline should be flexible e.g. you have to finish newton laws today but for some reasons you don't succeed and you feel bad. So make it flexible if not today then tomorrow 100%.
7.And most important never end a negative sentence, don't say that you don't know this thing, physics is tough blah blah..
Feel like a topper and work like him, you will become a topper .In the morning just after woke up and at bed time feel that you are a topper visualize your success.
Good luck

1. Grab a copy of your syllabus so that you know what topic will be discussed from time to time... having known what topic is next... you can read ahead.. even before your teacher give the lecture.
2. During discussion, listen your instrustor attentively, and take down notes... write down whatever you understand while the instructor was talking... most of the time... its much easier to recall what the topic is all about when you're keeping you're notes.
3. Ask questions if there is something that you don't fully understand.
4. Don't come to class when you're hungry.
5. Pray.

if you're a lazy student like me, then hear this out;
1. The subjects that you are obviously good at and whether you study them or not won't affect your grades one bit, just ditch them and don't study them, just do their homeworks _ if your grades don't get affected either way it's a waste of time.
2. If you're too lazy to take so many notes in class, bring with yourself a cassette recorder that would 100% record everything the teacher says (as in it wouldn't break and you're not in an always noisy classroom)
3. When taking notes, ALWAYS make sure to write the date, even day, and definitely the page that the note refers to. Even the section if necessary; if you take notes without putting these basic guidelines when you come back to them later you'll be lost in a vast sea.
4. The subjects you hate the most- if you can't get yourself to concentrate on them properly in class, try to study them on your own at home. I know that concentrating on something you truely despise is really a hell of a task, that's why when you try to review them always do that in a "practical" way, as in using a pen and paper writing notes and whatnot as u study it; this assures that u won't fall asleep while studying the subject :P I do this primarily with math - and I'm actually starting to understand it properly!
I can't think of anymore atm but I hope these help

I am a freshman in college so hopefully I fit the demographic you were after.
ok so study tips here we go.
1. Always read the lecture/book before coming to class
2. Take notes in class and take notes from the book review both before the test
3. Try to find visual representations of the material for example if you are doing a physics problem, it really helps to draw out the picture for the described scenario and label all known information.
4. Try to say things you are studying out loud.
ok for uncommon study tip that work for me
1. I like reading the whole unit and then going back and outlining it. for example if I have a test on five chapters I read all five then go back and outline them rather than read at the pace of the class.
2. I also like working late at night. I find that I can't really concentrate on reading or anything like that untill after 6pm. so I usually work from 7pm-1am
Good luck in high school and remember to start all the college application stuff early!
