well, since marking the best response is popular today, this question came to me. how will you know if no other people will respond to your topic of discussion? would it be unfair if you have already marked the best one and figured out another, which came a little late was better?

If noone answers for a longer period of time. Its not unfair to those that still might answer, because if you look at this that way then you should never choose a best answer as hipoteticly its always a chance someone else answers.
I wait for a while, when I see noone is answering anymore then I choose. But I do never choose the same day as I posted, even not in the same week.

i think to mark best response is when your discussion come to an end, when people start not to reply, then you choose for the best, from your point of view... because if you mark best response to soon, people dont want to give to your discussion any comment... happy mylotting ~

Good point from Mojcica, that makes perfect sense! It's good to wait awhile, but always make sure the answer is answering exactly what ur asking, and adding extra validity to the point! Just cause it's a great answer doesn't mean it's a total valid answer!
