Hello My Friends, Here is my question. Do you try and rate each discussion you reply to? How about rating others responses to a discussion? I feel when someone goes to the effort to post something, especially with a good content or issues that I can relate to, then I look forward to responding. Are we all using the rating system? I believe by doing so, it effects our income in a positve way. Come on, fess up! Hugs to All leenie

I make a real effort to give every one a plus, especially if I am responding to their discussion. If it wasn't worth a plus, then I probably wouldn't be responding to it in the first place. Also, if people respond to my discussions I try to give them a plus also. The only way I wouldn't, would be if someone is being really negative or insulting. When I read other people's responses in discussions, I usually give them a plus also. I love all of the positive discussions that take place here on myLot and I think it helps to give people positive ratings. Hope you have a wonderful day!

Hi ky, I'm glad to hear that you respond with positive ratings, especially when friends deserve it. It is so easy to reward each other with a + when they have gone out of their way to respond to our posts. I feel that is the least we can do. I'm really glad you feel that way. leenie

Hi prince I agree, it would be good for us to rate a discussion. If I respond to a post, it is because I find some value in the subject. Therefore it is important to give that person a positive rating. Sometimes a person will post a lot of insignificant questions or what not. I will not respond to those posts. For me, the object of posting is to get something out there for people to think about and give their opinions, or to ask a question that has some significance to it. That's when a rating becomes important. It is an individual decision. leenie

I am not sure if it effects the income or not but yes I do rate not only the discussions I reply to but what others have to say as well as long as I think they are good ones. If I don't agree I don't rate, I don't give a - only a + or nothing at all.

Hi tyc, Again, I agree with your opinion on the rating system. Pluses are the only rating necessary, because a minus would be a moot point. Why even respond if you don't like the post? And if you do respond, concideration for that person is far more important than a minus rating. leenie

I know that I am. I rate about 30 to 40 discussions a day.. When someone leaves me comment, I will take the time to rate them all the time. It can be a good rating or a bad rating. But, what I can tell you is that, I give more positive rating than I do with the bad rating.. I appreciate the posts that mylottians give.. I take great pleasure in rating another user. I make it my business yo rate someone!

Hi cream, I have been wondering about this rating question for a while and am so glad to see that everyone seems to take part in the rating system. They find it to be a very important part of our mylot system. I see it as a great motivator to posting and responding. And everyone appreciates being given a positive rating. By all means, don't worry about typos. We all do them. leenie

Yes, I definitely press the + for people who reply to my discussions - as a 'thank you' for them bothering. I have no idea whether it affects our own rating - mine hasn't moved for ages, though initially it went down over 30 points one night when a troll decided to have a bite at me!

Hi guy As a thank you to you for responding to my post, it's a pleasure to rate you with a +. I don't understand why your star rating would not be higher. No one should have that ability to mess with your rating like that. If it were me, I'd be writing a letter. leenie

Thank you for the + Leenie! Yes, at the time I lost the points I did report the person ... they were also using two myLot accounts, so I reported them for doing that. MyLot must have taken action, as that person seems to have disappeared! I'd gone down to a green star, but it's slowly going back up again ... your + will help - so thanks!

hi leenie, in all the discussions i have i positively or negatively rate the responses. i have never given a negatice rating before its all been positive. i figure if they took the time to respond to my question then i can take the time and give them a positive rating :) and i hope they would do the same for me.

Hi cndn, I am really happy to know that so many of us here at mylot have enough respect for each other that we feel our friends deserve a positive rating and not afraid to show our appreciation by rating their efforts. Thanks for responding. leenie

Hi Leenie... When I answer a discussion I almost always leave a positive rating. If I'm in a hurry to answer another discussion I may forget to leave one. I don't leave a negative rating though regardless if they agree with something or not.

Hi rose, It is really nice to know that people here are so considerate to make sure they rate each others posts and responses. I really wondered if they did or just didn't think about it. I'm sure glad I asked this question. leenie

Hi jill, I have been thinking a lot about the rating system and feel it is a simple way to reward someone who has put out an honest effort to be a part of mylot. Not every response deserves a rating, + or -. But most do. I have been trying to make it more a part of my responses and posts. It's good for the soul. Hugs leenie

hi Leenie, Yes I automatically plus rate when I go to respond back or to answer the discussion. The only time I have ever neg rated was when a guy kept putting just a moneymaking link into my discussions so I reported as didn't want the discussions deleted. Huggles. Ellie :D

ellie, I see you as such a positive person. I would be shocked to find out that you didn't rate peoples posts. I do wish that mylot would allow us to know that we have been rated. I think it could be a positive reinforcement for some that don't feel like they get enough recognition here. Does that make sense to you? Hugs.. leenie

Pluses for most everything, no rating for responses that don't make sense, minuses for people who are abusive. That's my lousy system...

dawn, Nothing lousy about it. That's how I feel. Sometimes I believe that people think too hard about this subject. What's so difficult? Practical sense is all it takes. I posted this when I was a new Mylotian and didn't know what the rules were or how to find them. Now I know. Thanks for responding. Hugsss leenie

Hey Frankie, Remember it is never too late to rate. I don't feel that it matters if it affects the earnings, I just know that it affects the way we respond to each other. Positive begets positive. Hugs to you sweetie leenie

Hi leenie! How's my buddie doing? Yes, I do use the rating system, but I do not rate -. I will only rate someone a + rating. If I don't like something or if I don't really have a definite feeling one way or the other I will not rate it. I do not believe in rating someone a -. I do not think that is fair to anyone. I feel that there is no reason to do that to anyone. It is just plain mean and uncalled for. I would rather not rate at all. I like to see people get good ratings, as I would hope that they would do for me.

Hey sweetie, how's my buddie? I feel the way you do. Nothing and none deseves a - rating. If someone is being negative, I just ignore it and move on. I don't understand why people lose so many points in their star, especially if someone is doing it to them unfairly. I like the + rating because it's like a little reward for taking their time to respond to someones post. In my book you are star rating!!Hugs to you buddy! leenie

When i started a thread discussion, i really find time to rate each who participated.I usually give positive rating, even if it contradicts my post as long as a participant has proven a point.. i also rate people in the discussions that i joined in.my rating would be based on the essence of the post. Also, when i see a link posted, in which i know that this is prohibited, i immediately hit the (!) to report.i don't wanna tolerate those mistakes to simple rules.

Hi owelm, I believe that rating posts and responses helps to motivate people to respond and post more often. Everyone likes to be rewarded for their efforts and that's my reason for rating. I especially want to reward those who post important and well said issues. I also feel that because we can't see the ratings that responses to this post shows us all that it is being done. leenie

i have experienced putting a positive (+) rating on the responses on my discussions. i think i've done that a few times. ofcourse, a really good response deserves to get a point, right? especially those that are well-discussed and kinda striking, and ofcourse, relevant to the topic. well, i've also learned to mark one of the responses as the best. i think all of our fellow lotters should practise that too.

Hi maroseqf, I think rating a discussion whether it be the post or the responses is something you have to get used to doing. When I started at mylot, I didn't understand or for that matter even know about the rating system. I finally started reading about the faqs and all the info I could about rules, etc. Best response is expected of us. There is a tab on the left side at the top of our posting that says unresolved. That's what reminds me to mark best response if I have forgotten. leenie

I'm guilty of not always rating a discussion, because I totally forget, but do rate each and every member who responds to my discussions. I would hope others rate my responses or discussions as well. We all work together here and would like to always see positive ratings. Only once did I use a minus and only because I felt like the member was threatening other members. That member is gone so myLot must have cancelled him. It was a totally bizarre response.

Hi carol, You were obviously right in rating that person with a negative. That is a good example of when to use a minus rating. It's nice to know that we don't find the need to rate too many people negatively. I really like the rating system. It gives a boost to those who make the effort to be a part of this forum. leenie

I rate all discussions I read, and respond to. I also rate all the responses to that discussion. I once read and rated 123 responses in a discussion. Now how many of us normally even respond to a discussion that has that many responses already? I think I might have been a little bored that day.*LOL* I don't give negative ratings. If it is that bad, it is usually something that needs to be reported. I don't know that it affects our earnings to rate, but I do it anyway, every time.

Hi bo, I love the way you think. I don't think it matters if it affects our earnings, I was just curious as to how many people consider this an important aspect of our efforts here to post discussions. Wow, 123 ratings to one post? Good work Bo!! As far as negative ratings go, I totally agree with you. Also, I won't even respond to a so called bad post. leenie

Mostly I add + I think everybody who take a time to respond for my discussion deserve to be rated. Bud if the comment is too short or meaningless I rather do not rate this comment at all because I do not like to put - to anybody. I usually ignore + or - in others discussions.

hi die, I can understand not rating a response if it is only a few words. It is as if they responded only for the earning purpose. I too would not rate for that reason. I see you just passed 200, good work. Keep mylotting. leenie
