A Great Dane in Grand Junction, CO, has given birth to 19 (that's NINETEEN!) puppies of which 16 lived. Good lord - that's still twice as many pups as nipples!!!
Can you imagine the cost of keeping these little guys now that they're beginning to eat solid food?? Dad's already over 200 lbs. I like Great Danes, but there's just no way I could afford one, let alone 17 or 18!!
Here's the story: http://www.nbc10.com/family/17760610/detail.html?rss=phi&psp=weird-news
Sorry, no pics with this one, although I didn't look for a Colorado site to see.
I can only imagine the mad house when they all start running and playing!!! PURE CHAOS!!!
How would you handle something like this? What's the most in a litter you've ever known - cat OR dog?

Holy Moly.....That is alot of puppies..My daughters dog had 8 puppies a week ago and they are doing just fine..Black labs....
That Great Dane Mama must have tons of milk...poor thing must get tuckered out with all the feedings....
Our Akita came from a litter of 11...My grandma had a dog (golden retriever) that had 15 puppies....That was way before I was born....

My brother's dog had 11 puppies last summer and he was really hard pressed to find homes for all of them...they were chocolate labs. Thankfully the dogs been fixed but still that was alot of dogs to have to take care of.
