What would you do if your teenager came home with a tattoo or body piercing?

I don't have a teenager yet, but it wasn't that long ago when I was one. I can say that at 15yrs I got a small tattoo of a rose on my ankle. Of course that tattoo contained the name of my boyfriend at the time. I have regretted that ever since and had to have it covered up with another tattoo. My parents didn't seem that concerned about that tattoo, so guess what, I got anohter one a few months later. Now that I am older I kinda wish that my parents would have stopped me before or at least after the first one. I have other tattoos and piercing that I got after I was 18yrs and I wish that I would have waited on the first ones. What would you do? Would you make your child get it removed? Would you try to find out where they go it and persue legal actions?

When my daughters are old enough to make an informed decision, and they want their ears pierced I will take them myself to see their ears are done safely. I don't see my girls as ever being the tattoo type. They think tattoos are yucky and they are petrified of needles. haha

i, too, dont have a teenage kid yet. i wouldn't know what my reaction will be if one of my kids would do that in their teenage years. but i hope before doing that they would require my advise.

I dun have any kids yet, for i'm only a young adult now.. lol =D All i know is that, when i was a teenager, my mom will always ask me not to have any piercings or tattoos, because one of my cousin has tattoo.. haha
BUt as soon as i turned 18, i went for my 1st piercing on the ear.. lol =D And when my mom saw that, she was so angry that she just keep nagging and nagging away.. lol =D Just few days later, the nagging will stop, and she no longer comment too.. hehe ^_^
BUt if i were to get a tattoo den, or even now, she will still be nagging or worse, screaming after me.. haha ^_^ I guess my mom belong to the more conservative generation ^_^ hehe

I was 27 yrs old when I had my tattoo and piercing in my bellybutton. My parents didn't say anything at all coz they know that i'm way old enough for them to scold me 
they're kinda old fashioned so they dont understand young ones at all. my husband and i agreed that when our daughter decide to have her tattoo...she should have it done once she's 18. but we have to talk to her about it first if she really,really wants it as it is permanent. oh well...anything can happen now. she's just 5....few years from now there's gonna be a way to really remove tattooes
