Why Do They Do That!?

All day today, I have been sitting here, seeing a stupid flashing ad, saying Congratulations, you have just won........something. I can't even stand to look at it long enough to see what it is, but then again, I don't really care. What my beef is about is the flashing, constant flashing, while I am trying to read something. It is distracting, not to mention the fact that I have spots floating around in front of my eyes, and it is giving me a headache. Why do they think they have to put something like that up to get your attention? I mean, I know, it DOES get your attention, but still, I find it quite annoying. Does it bother anybody else to the point that you would just rather not be on the site while the ad is showing?

Ohmigosh, I am so with you on this one, bo. Last night it almost drove me mad!!. There was one flashing at the top and on the side. It drove me to actually be anxious after a while. Sunday nights are my peaceful nights to enjoy my favorite show and write a little on myLot. I'm usually so relaxed and ready to sleep after my show is over, but last night I was actually very agrivated. I decided today that I would write and complain if it started up again. I think I will.

I think I will, too. I have avoided going anywhere on site today. Most of my activity has been through my e-mail to avoid it.

Ah, thanks, bo. That is always an option. I had not thought of that. Thanks. For some reason I don't function through my email much. But I am replying to you right now through email. I'm learning. I'm just a little slow.

I don't like responding from e-mail. I can't see what others have posted until after I have given my response, and I want to see what others are saying before I post.

Hey, Bo! I do agree with you that it is extremely annoying! I hate to see it just blinking there. It does bother me a great deal and now I'm getting the sound one for the wi game again! It keeps going off over and over so I had to turn off the sound. I hadn't heard it for a long time and I thought it was gone for good too because everyone was complaining about it, but no it's back! Between the flashing one and the wi talking one it can drive you totally insane! I am getting a headache myself!

hi bohemian heart they really annoy me, and i wish they could stop them from flashing. this wou ld be unsafe for anyone who has epilepsy as it could send them into a seizure. its really stupid to have them doing that, and they hurt my eyes like crazy. I hate the things. I dont know who has control over them but I wish I did as I would like to ask why the flashing, its really irritating.

Yes, it is irritating, dangerous for some, and I just don't see the point of having something going off like a strobe light when I am trying to read someone's discussion. I did almost all my activity on my lot through my e-mail yesterday, I could not stand to be on the site.

I know the one you were talking about. I caught myself staring at it for 1 minute or so while I was in the middle of replying to a discussion.. It was mesmerizing. I, too, still have no idea what it said. It was an attention getter like something shiny.

Maybe if we all complain about suffering from seizures and threaten to sue.. they will take it off

Well, maybe not seizures, but at least extreme headaches, and lack of interest in being on site while they are up, maybe. It was crazy, wasn't it? I could not even get through reading a discussion because that thing was halfway down the page, and there was no way to get away from it.

Yeah, I agree it is quite annoying especially those with the sound when you've got your speakers turned on

*LOL* Those with sound I don't mind, I can turn the speaker down. But,it is kind of annoying to be sitting quietly, minding your own business, then unexpectedly blasted out of your chair by one of those things.
