Have you ever tried to have a chat in a chat room sites?

Hey there amzthienne I too tried this for a while with yahoo. My marriage had broken up and I wanted some company so I got on the chat site. I knew as soon as someone asked me if I had messenger and if I had a camera what they really wanted which wasn't the same as me. I just wanted to chat, nothing more. I did not lead any of them on as they were very quick to ask me the questions. I steer well clear of them now and have a great time in myLot for company, there are some great, genuine people on here!

I used to go to chatrooms before.But yahoo is the most memorable one for me.Why?Because thats where i met my husband.People in the chatrooms were respectful unlike now,there are alot of nasty people.So be careful...

[i]Hi amz, When I was in COllege, yes...friends and I will be chatting overnight in one of my friend's house and it was very fun...SOme people are nice to talk with, you will learn from their culture etc but some also are just hanging around and invite you for those nasty activities..We oftentimes had an argument with those type of people![/i]

Hi friend,I tried to chat but just for a time pass,because we can never trust people on chat.I even tried in yahoo chat and its not so good.Its difficult to find decent people there.We can never try to make friends on a chat room.They only cheat us.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

I chat sometimes, but you do have to be careful becuase some people are just vulgar and nasty. Some chat sites ar monitored so people using innappropriate language are asked to leave but not all are. When I chat it's just to see what other people are up to. If I come across anyone crossing the line I stop cahtting and ignore/block them. But some people are just bored also, I've chatted with people in other countries and we just talked about life and what it was like where they were compared to were I am!

i have tried but had the same problem......within a few mins all you get is do u ahve msn n webcam? at first it slightly amusing after the first 50 its just boring. i evven tried rooms with categories like music, tc etc. thinking i might get to chat about the subject but even then eveery room the same

No..I don't like chat in a chat room sites. It is wasting time.

My husband came home with a computer years ago. I had no idea how to even turn the thing on. Our kids showed me how to get started. Once I felt comfortable I entered a craft chatroom. This was a safe place to start, learn about different crafts and even get some computer hints. It worked and worked well. One friend from the chatroom I actually flew to visit her about 6 different times. We had a blast. My suggestion to you would be to join a chatroom with some special interest in mind. Most of the time if the room is hobby related or something of that nature, there won't be any smut talk. They are fun and interesting.

yeah sometimes since i do have some friends too ...especially now that my son and daughter are working from a nearby city(my son) and the other is 3 days travel by bus)we usually chat almost everyday..

i hate chat rooms.even beside the "hey,you wanna see me naked" people,the software usually sucks-either stalls your computer or kicks you out repeatedly. i'm not a big fan of IM programs either.

i used to be addicted to chat, as in chatroom chat. but now, i find it really boring. probably because most of my chatmates arent there anymore. they dont chat as often as they use to. i still go to chatrooms once in a while to check out what's new. other than that, i log off immediately. :)

I gave up chatting ages ago. i never enjoyed it. It was as though you are talking to non humans. they had no face nor any heart. i like to know a person wehn i chat with them.it takes a logn time to develop a freindship Chatrooms are the worst place to develop friendship.

that is so unlikely to hear - having chatters act improperly. i also have experienced joining a chat site a few years ago. actually, i just tried it because my niece was really the one logged on. she was using mirc. we just entered those rooms which are more familiar to us. we don't try those unusual ones because we don't want to experience those unpleasant things with chatters. actually, it is a nice past time because you get to say whatever you want and some people sympatize with you whenever you feel down. but i didn't make chatting a habit. i'd rather talk to a friend over the phone.

hiya amzthienne, i know exactly how you feel. i have some experience with people in chat rooms using ALOT of profane language. and insulting u 4 no good reason. but those people who chat like that must have there own personal prblems!

never really chatted in a chat room but have chatted with people in POGO . and wehn I did years ago I enjoyed found a few friends but they seem to have moved on or dont got to the rooms I am in any more . I dont chat much any more except to say wtg or ty . I find even there people can get runchy and I just as soon just play and not chat.

When I worked as a computer professional back in the 70's and 80's I had to go into those sometimes in order to debug software. In concept they are great but in an unregulated environment it is possible for a few people to ruin something for the many. How rude it was when people would come into a room and YELL their mantra of "ASL" or whatever they used at the time to demand to know everyone's age, gender, and location, as though those were the things that matter about a person. So we, in the industry, had to invent the MUTE button and figure out ways to BOOT people out of the rooms. The biggest problem with chat rooms is that predators hang out in them, sometimes openly and other times just as lurkers, trying to get personal information about people, especially vulnerable children. It is amazing how much personal information some people are willing to put out to the world, even here on myLot, even adult people who should know better.

I have been a chatter in 2003 -- it was my diversion to some depressing thoughts back then. I was also using yahoo chat. Yahoo Chat used to be my sort of "home", I met friends there whom are still one of my few nice friends. I even met 2 or 3 of them. It was fun during then, but lately I tried logging in and it seemed that people are sexually oriented there. I have to say some of them are from this particular country. I just assumed that the guys in that country are repressed and suppressed.

i have never been to a chat room. thought i was too old for that kind of action. lol

When I was younger I used to visit these sites. I have find many friends there which I met personally as well. I had a lot of fun with them. But as I got older I stopped use these chat rooms and stop meeting these friends. I also had some bad experiences with silly people which were there. it is like in the real life there are cool people and there are others who are on the other wave you don't understand.
