There was an article i my colorado newspaper mentioning that the funding for libraries would be ceasing because the state senate wanted to budget for other things and would take the money from the libraries away. Now seriously people you want kids to stay in school and give them the highest education possible for cheap and then you take away their libraries. Does this make any sense to you at all? What do you think if your local libraries closed?

that is bad news... libraries is a place that you can read stuff with out being bothered by others... and if they will take something like this to the children a huge part of this childrens' life will be lost. believe me we have the same problem here in our country for more than decades. that is the first step that they will take soon they will pull more budget for the public school until almost nothing will be left.

Hey I thought only my government is stupid in closing down libraries here. I cannot find a library at least 20 miles near my home. So this across the world. Government any where is senseless.

Completely closing???? I know a lot of cities and counties facing tough budgets are closing one day a week to save money. Hopefully, all that is happening is that because they are losing some of their budget they have to cut staff and close one day a week.
Of course, if you want to keep your library, you need to support it. Join the friends of the library, make a donation, go to the annual book sale. Also, let your city or county leaders know how use the library. Elected officials tend not to want to upset those who vote.

This sounds very alarming to me. What kind of decision is that? I cannot believe that state senate can afford to remove a library just for plain cost cutting.. If there's no libraries around, how can a child of tomorrow develop an interest in reading.. Reading is a powerful tool to put wisdom to anybody's minds and it's the most conducive place to do it. A classroom will never be a good substitute to a library.
