I have never been this broke this close to my birthday before. In fact I usually used to rent a nice hotel room and have a great big birthday bash. That will not be happening this year. I quit my job last week because it was not netting me the kind of money that I am used to making and it was cutting into my schoolwork. Also for the time bweing we are without our car. The center bearing and driveshaft in our only car went out about a week ago so we just spend 500 dollars ordering the parts online. So there wil be little or no money for a celebration. I guess that I am stil happy I have a roof over my head, plenty of food, and a man who loves me. These things while not being monetary make me feel wealthy in a different kind of way. Money is not everything.

Aww. Your right as long as you have the person you love and they love you and you have a roof over your head and lots of food your doing great & your right, money isn't everything. Maybe he can still make you a cake or something. My b-day was a not too long ago and my man recently was fired from his job and is collecting unemployment now and we don't have the money we had a year ago but he managed to make me a very good birthday cake with ice cream and he gave me a few small gifts I was delighted the most by the cake he made. ( it's was a box cake mix he made from the store, but it still was great) I feel lucky now because I'm with the people I love ( my family)and we are healthy and love each other very much and no huge party or fancy gifts can top that!

Wish you a very happy birthday. My son too is celebrating his 19th birthday today. Dont worry about not celebrating your birthday. You can always have the party at some other time. Just keep smiling today.

Awe! I'm sure you'll find a way to make your day a good one. My birthdays are always bad! But, at least I have a good story to tell about it later, right?! LOL! One year the battery in my car actually BLEW UP while I was driving it! But it sounds like you have the important things, so you are blessed!

Thank you very much. Though in my whining I may not sound like I know, I do know I am blessed and I am grateful for the important things that I do have in my life. They may not be money but they are worth much more than money.

My hours were cut in half at work due to a lack of finances so I'm currently on the look for another job, the problem is that where I live, there aren't any jobs. The following month my MOT came up alongside my road tax, combined took all my months wages + money out of the wife's savings. We need our car to get to work, do the weekly shopping and keep in contact with our families. Without it we'd be stranded where we live. On top of that is rent, electricity, water rates, gas, council tax, food etc...etc... and we have no money. The only thing we have for entertainment is the internet, so its the only real luxury we have, which I'm very grateful for. It happens to everyone at some point, you just need to work through it and resolve whatever issues lay ahead with your partner - you always live through better months and harder months, its just the way life goes. For around 4/5 months everything was good and now we're in a rut that looks to last until I get a new job, then it'll all pick up again. Just stick it out, everything will be ok in the end :D

Last Christmas I spent the last money that I had on a present for my other half. He spent the last of his money on a gift for me. His gift cost 10 times what mine did but we both get a lot of use out of our pressure washer and surround sound speakers for my computer. This year on his birthday I was able to afford nothing. What smarts is that I am sure that he will buy me a gift, something nice that we can't afford. The cut to your hours is a bad break. I just quit my job because I just wasn't making any money but my honey is still working steadily making around 200 a day 6 days a week.

BTW, it was also my Birthday in the same month) and we had no money to do anything at all. I got a cheap present from my other half, but she must have got it from savings as we have no disposable income.

I know you wold like to do something special for your birthday but with money being tight you feel that you can't. I'm sure it will be special like you said you have a roof over your head, plenty of food and a man that loves you that is very special. I'm sure your birthday will be just as nice and you can just celebrate it a little later when you do have the funds. Have a very Happy Birthday and may it be a nice one.

Fist of all, happy birthday on your upcoming birthday. I know how you must feel financially, I have been out of work for four months due to a lay off. I know how it is when there is no money. My husband and I are really struggling, I try to keep my chin up, but some days are better than others. Right now, my husband is trying to get incorporated for a business, but we do not even have the money to potentially make more money. Again, hope your birthday will be the best that it can. God bless.

Well, I am glad you are looking at it that way. Things could go so much worse, and if you're lucky and you can celebrate next year, then you'll appreciate it so much more next year. Just be happy with what you've got!

You are right...money is not everything, but it does help to be able to pay the bills and still have some left over for splurging every once in a while. Unfortunately, with the economy the way it is, there are a lot of people right now that are unable to enjoy the "fun" things anymore because of their finances. I definitely feel your pain. At least you realize that you have some very special and important aspects in your life. I hope that you are able to have an enjoyable birthday by doing something cheaper or free. Don't let this ruin your day. Anyway, I hope you have a good birthday.
