My son just turned 14. He is a very smart boy and is well behaved in school. I wish I could say the same for our home life. I expect a certain amount of teenage angsnt and he is certainly delivering. He is worried about the worlds problems and all of the negativity in the world and in our current election. He is also bothered by all the other kids in his class who seek out attention by being loud and obnoxious. That is a good thing, though, and shows he is getting more mature in his thinking and opinions. However, the rudeness and yelling at us shows he is not quite as mature as he thinks he is. He is determined to stand up for himself, and that includes challenging us on just about everything. He is a great kid and has tajen the initiative to learn Photoshop, Flash and other programs for the creation of video games. He is also drawing and writing quite a bit lately.
Feel free to chime in with any thoughts on raising a healthy teenage boy.

My oldest son is 11, ot quite a teen yet, but I can understand what you are saying. My son is very polite everywhere we go, and even if he is out without me, but at home, it seems like it is a never ending battle with him.
I just tell myself that I am glad that it isn't the other way around. If I taught him well enough to behave properly in public, I have done well. I would rather have him show the attitude at home than at school.
