Hi, I've been wondering why sunsets now a days seem to be more reddish that usual. Is there an effect in the atmosphere or something? Because the sun sets that I remember when I was a kind was not like this, it was more orangish. Not it's so red sometimes. Just wondering. ![](/Content/images/emotes/wink.gif)

I guess that phenomenon is like that here in Manila only. When I was in the province I seldom see them to be as red as it is. But here in Manila I always see it like that and I only see them at certain places like in Manila and some parts of Quezon City. Nearby cities are not like that. Well I really do not know why the sun looks like that in Manila. I guess it has something to do with the way Manila is located in our globe. I rather find it spectacular seeing the sun sets like that.

It's not all about pollution.
At sunset or sunrise, the sunlight we observe has traveled a longer path through the atmosphere than the sunlight we see at noon. Therefore, there is more scattering, and nearly all of the light direct from the sun is red.
