A woman apparently was caught on survelance camera leaving her 12 hour old infant on the steps of a church in 49 degree weather. It's not illegal to do this if you leave the infant in the hands of a person but this woman just left the baby on the steps. Here's the link to the video:

I can almost understand that perhaps maybe she was scared and thought that she was doing what was best for the baby by leaving the baby at the church but she should have had more sense and GUTS to do it at a time when she was not putting the baby in danger of freezing or coming to harm by those who may be passing by. Or worse, perhaps by some stray dog or wild animal.
I just don't get what is wrong with people today. It doesn't take much to use protection or to go to a free clinic and be put on birth control. I just think that people are so hard up for a little pleasure, that they really don't think about the consequences. Or worse, they just don't care because they're too selfish to. In any case, this is just awful. What do you think about the situation?

Oh, I definitely agree. There are so many people out there who want kids and can't have them because of some physical problem. I think it would definitely be great if these people could get the baby without all the hassle and long years of waiting to get one....

It is awfully sad....The doors did seem ajar on the video..She should have went in..It was way to cold for the little one...My heart goes out to her...
She is in good care now with her father..He came home from the military and found out he was a father and this newborn girl was his daughter..I am so glad that he has her now and she is doing well..
Sometimes we just don't understand why people do such things....

Well I agree that the mother was thoughtless at best. There are laws all over the US that protect mothers having this kind of issue. While I do not agree with what hse did- babies can be dropped off at most ER's no questions asked. But if she truly felt this desperarte- then there is probably more to it than meets the eye. I think this is a great time to talk about woman going through PPD and that oftens affects how a person thinks. I know that can be hard to accept but the facts point to this type of thing. One last note- however wrong she was, at least she let the child live.
