pc to laptop net..

I have a broadband connection in my desktop, its connected tru wire and lan. i want to use the internet with my laptop too, but i do not have a router. is there any other wAy of sharing the internet without the use of a router?

well from the situation that you have told what i can suggest is that dont go for the router as it will be a bit costly. i can tell you, get a lan card. and also get a PC to PC cable. tell your vendor to get the proper cable. there is straight and cross. i think straight cable is needed. just attach the lan card. plus th cable in your laptop lan port and on the new lan card in pc. go to network setup and go for small office and home network setup and it will giude you. its dam easy. and its on
you can share fiesl and net connection.

Isn't the LAN (local area network) a router system? Since you are using broadband, I'm guessing dsl, so there should be a modem and probably a router or a built-in router or something between that? Though I could be wrong. Cheers
