I woke up feeling a little hungry and had a bagel with cream cheese and coffe, and started thinking just how healthy is the bagel now that it has cream cheese. So what are your thoughts on this, is a bagel with cream cheese and coffee a good breakfast? Is it healthy? Does it count that I take multivitamins?

I like mine. Do you think because cream cheese has to have calcium that that might make it a little healthier?

Well, for me I would have to say no, because I use a lot of sugar in my coffee and that does not help at all. I think I will scale back on my sweets over all. Thanks for the enlightment.

I also like my coffee with sugar, ok, lots of sugar too. I am learning to take my tea without sugar or even honey, I am thinking that that balances the extra sugar that I put in my coffee.

That kind of breakfast tastes good, but it doesn't have much real nutrition -- just fat and starch. You need protein to get throught to lunchtime without losing energy. Bagel and coffee is a high-energy breakfast that gives you a boost and then drops you down fast. The worst part is that most people get their next boost with more coffee, sweets and starches. It may take a long time, but your body will eventually suffer.

You have several good points in there. I think I tend to go for high energy breakfast high in sugar. I so far tho have had a cup of coffee tho.

Anything with cream cheese is not that healthy, although I suppose it is better than not eating anything. Cream cheese will stick to you, but not necessarily in a way you want it too, as it is incredibly fattening

Yes. A bagel and cream cheese is a good breakfast. Cream cheese is made from milk which contains many vitamins and minerals, not to mention calcium and folic acid. There are also many vitamins and minerals in bagels, as well. Most bread also has folic acid, and is a good source of fiber.

I think it depends on what kind of bagel it is & who made it. And if you had regular cream cheese instead of a light version that makes the difference too. I think it's a decent breakfast. But I like to make mine into a sandwich from time to time like they do in the bagel shop.....MMMMMmmmm.... fresh hot bagel shop chocolate chip bagels.

Hmmm... I don't really know if it's a good and healthy breakfast. After all, they said breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But sometimes Boyfriend would make us breakfast consisting of bagels with cream cheese and diced tomatoes on top. I guess the tomatoes balances it out.

If you have a 100% wholegrain bagel and use light cream cheese it is a healthy breakfast! If you were to use peanut butter instead of cream cheese and throw in a piece of fruit and a yogurt you have an absolutely perfect meal.

Thanks for the tip, I bouth the bagels yesterday and I saw a variety of them and settle on the regular ones. It does sounds like a good meal to me :) Now I think I will have oatmeal as my lunch. Maybe that will redeem myself?

I love a good multi grain bagel with plain, light cream cheese. But I would rather go with a nice cup of green tea rather than the coffee. mmmmmm now I am hungry.

Nothing wrong with a bagel and cream cheese. Some facts: Carbs are not unhealthy. The low carb diet was a scam. Most diets are scams designed to make money off the gullible. Calories are also not unhealthy. If you're worried about gaining weight look at the weight of your food. Eat less its that simple. Also I haven't had a bagel that wasn't extra chewy, almost like eating a rubber tire. So eating a bagel would probably be the most healthy thing you could do. Think of all the exercise you're getting just by eating it.

You have a good point there, there are all kind of diets out there. In dieting I believe eating less is healthy. I guess I did lose some weight chewing it
