HI..I have a doubt about eating banana which iam putting it in the discussion. We normally eat a banana after peeling its skin. some people whom i have observed wash the skin before eating the banana without the skin. Is this necessary?

I usually buy bananas from a flea market where there are all kinds of dusts and everything. So when i get home i normally wash the bananas, the washing doesn't affect the inside because of the thick peeling but it's very different when you handle a banana that has alittle dust or more. i do this like any other fruit washing it before putting on a fruit tray or whatever.

Hello gaisri. I think it depends on the people. Sometimes people think too much. They will try to figure out where the bananas came from and ended up imagining that the bananas came from disgusting places. Some because they were so concerned about their health so they don't want any germs or dirt to come near the bananas. I just was bananas when I am making my banana yellow curry.Never heard of it. Its a specialty from my country and it requires to put in some of the banana skin, so that is why I need to wash it.

I dont think its required to clean the skin as it is already well protected of its skin as they have thick skins as well. So there is no fun in making more actions saying that we are so clean to see..I coudl say in my home, we use unripe banana skin for making curry too.

Lol I would think not, in fact that seems just a little crazy XD lol I mean what could possibly be the purpose :P though I have had a question lately, one I intend to test, and that is "Can you candy a banana peel?" because you CAN candy a citrus peel (And it would taste good) But I dont know about a banana peel, but if that were the case, then I could understand why you would wash the peel, but the only affect to the inside of the banana that I can think of that would come from washing it, would be it bruising XD
