OBAMA or McCAIN?

United States

ok all of us have our own reason for why we would vote for a presidential canidate. i was wondering, would you vote for obama or mcCain if your favorite celebrity was going to vote for them, or if they supported them? or would you vote according to what they can do for us. the reason i ask is because a lady that work at my job said that she was going to vote for obama, because she seen brad pitt in a magazine holding a notebook with obama's picture on it. i ask her was that the only reason she was going to vote for him and she said that seeing that helped her make her decision, and she don't feel like mcCain can do anything for her. what do you guys feel about this.

Honestly, I feel like that is a ridiculous reason to vote for someone and that her vote is a wasted vote. People should do the research and vote for who they think will do the best job for them. You need to look at the candidates diligently and make the best decision for you. If you make more than 250K per year, you may want to vote for McCain in order to avoid Obama's new tax plan. If you are making less and don't have health care, you may want to vote for Obama because of his views on that. Just make an informed decision and vote based on what is best for you. Don't waste your vote. It just might be the one that decides it all.

i agree with you. i think that she should vote for better reasons than that. i support obama but that decision has nothing to do with what some celebrity is going to do. i am voting for the canidate that i think has more to offer me. thanks for your reply.

Agree with most of this, but the notion that any state will come down to one single vote is ludicrous. Of course, some people's voting standards are just as whack.

That is one of the most ridiculous reasons for voting for President Of the United States that I have heard yet....and believe me, there have been many. I have my favorite actors and actresses. Yes, I would go to their fan get togethers and practically worship at their feet in order to get a hello, a handshake or an autographed photograph. But when it comes to politics, religion or any of the big issues, I draw the line. I think it's great that celebs feel confident enough in themselves and their beliefs to vote for the candidate that they agree with, however, I think everyone should listen to what these men have to say and vote for the man who you share the same ideas and beliefs. No one should make your decision for you. You should make it for yourself.

I can make my own decisions.....I am not too impressed by what a celebrity thinks....but I know they did a study just recently that many blacks were going to vote for Obama because of the color of his skin....they didn't even really know what he was campaigning for or about....I think you need to be very educated about what a canidate stands for before you go check the box!

Actors, singers and producers may be good at what they do but that doesn't mean that they know anything about the individual candidates or where they stand on the important issues we face so, no, they would not influence my choice for President. I also don't believe that the issue of what the candidate can do for me, personally, is a good argument for voting for or against someone. As others have said on this board again and again, people need to research, from legitimate sources, each candidate for any elected offfice and vote according to your understanding and agreement, or disagreement with their platforms.

What does she expect Obama to do for her? Are people really that mindless? It really amazes me for the reasons behind the votes. Most of the voters I've talked to seem to have their hands out looking for Obama to give them a golden egg. Not going to happen.

If you vote for a candidate based on a celebrity, you are crazy. The celebrity should have no impact on your own decision, only your beliefs should impact it. Thats like taking parenting advice from Britney Spears

personally i could care less who a celebrity endorses. since IM not a celebrity what may be "good" for them is very UNLIKELY to be "good" for me, in just taxes alone, much less anything else. if someone is basing their vote on who their favorite celebrity is endorsing, then they are just plain dumb. we are too obsessed with what "celebrities" and the idiots that are semi-celebrities for who knows what reason, these days. they are catered to with every whim, get away with murder, buy a coffee and we race to see if they got skim milk with extra sprinkles!! etc etc etc. though i must give kudos to the celebrities that are doing commercials and stuff just encouraging ppl to VOTE. not endorsing one person over the other, but just wanting ppl to make their choice.

I voted for Obama. In Ohio we have early voting, and my family votes absentee since we are allowed to without reason now. But I voted for Obama because I like what his plans are, I think that he will create the most good change for the nation. I feel these are good reasons to vote for a person, and not because what celebrity endorses them. Brad Pitt is a person just like any other person, and I will not go by his, nor any other star's judgment to make my decision. Their judgment has flaws, just like mine does, I would rather vote for a person that may be a mistake based on my judgment, than to vote for a person because some star endorses them, and I make a mistake based on someone else's judgment and beliefs.
