New Fees and Policies on Ebay--Do you like them?

Ebay seems to be upping the fees and changing there network. What do you think about these changes? The limits on shipping costs you can get, the higher fees, and the unability to leave negative feedback for a buyer. These all sound like bad ideas to me. Will these cause you to list less on ebay--or perhaps use another service like ioffer?

i've pretty much stopped selling on there, most of my stuff was in the under 5 dollar range, so when i looked at all the fees i was paying and the inability to use RME, it just wasn't worth it. i think that if you have an issue with a buyer, such as non payment, then you should be able to leave negative. instead, you get all these new people on there screwing up your day and costing you money and you can't even prevent others from seeing it. its stupid and biased. they're sales have already dropped.

I agree. There should be a way to pinpoint the bad buyers on there. Have you tried ioffer? I have bought and sold a few things there and it seems to work pretty well. I am not surprised that they are losing business--cause they are not making smart business decisions.

I think the no negative feedback "can" open the doors for fraudulent buyers. However as a former powerseller during the no negative feedback period, I can honestly say that my unpaid items did not go up. Everything was about the same. Except that problem customers wanted to make demands.

I have 100% positive feedback, but I'd like a way to know if a buyer is a problem buyer and if they have a habit of not paying for items, etc. There isn't much you can do to block them, except put them on your blocked bidders list and that only works AFTER they screw you!

I have been a powerseller several times on ebay. But their corporate greed has turned me off. They don't understand that they are providing a portal for sellers to peddle their wares. Without the seller it is irrelevant how many buyers they have.
When they changed the feedback policy, I stopped leaving feedback. It was pointless. Why should a seller leave feedback when it can only be positive?
I own a service company and have released some problem clients. A company is better off knowing who these problem clients are. The same goes for ebay. I'd have no problem banning any potential problem customer.

I know. I mean they are protecting the buyer at the expense of the seller. And its the sellers that made ebay great. I mean one of the cool things about ebay is that you could pick up your unwanted items and sell them on ebay but now the fees are too large to do that.

And one of the GOOD things about ebay was that you could find almost anything on the website. They ruined it for the buyer and seller. Or should I say corporate greed killed ebay. That is one of the problems with businesses. They hire people who probably have never used the site to make decisions that are "best" for the company. I wonder if ebay shareholders wonder why the top dog changes so often. All they see is $$ signs and they think they can get milk from both ends of the cow. Keep milking ebay and see how long that lasts.

I hate ebay. Between their fees and paypal fees, after you sell something you haven't really made any profit. It makes me angry too when a buyer leaves negative feedback for a misunderstanding or something that is their fault or they take too long to pay you with no communication and then you can't do anything about it. The only thing good about ebay is the amount of prospective customers. There are other sites that are better to sell things on, like ecrater, but you wont get nearly as much traffic to your items, so you won't sell quite as much. I have noticed a lot of people unhappy with ebay, though, so maybe another marketplace will come out on top soon.

I used to be a powerseller on ebay and had my own business selling over 700 items a week across 3 different accounts, my fee's back then were fairly okay, easily payable and never seemed to be overly bad even when i took into account the paypal fee's as well. I stopped selling for about 2 years and recently put a few auctions up just to de-clutter the house a little.
I was astounded at the high fee's i was charged for the items i had listed, the listing fee's were bad enough and then the final value fee's OMG they were diabolical out of what i took for my auctions i paid around 12% in total to ebay for fee's it's stupid.
To me ebay have gotten really greedy now and they look like they are trying to get rid of hobby sellers by charging them stupid amounts for listing and final values but yet they are helping the business sellers because ebay want a retail site with nothing more than buy it nows on there.
They really are a bunch of idiots over at ebay.

I think eBay charges too much in fees as it is. I have been considering using another site for soem time now, and this just might be the push that causes me to do so. After insertion fees on eBay and fees taken out from PayPal, where I receive the majority of my payments from eBay, sometimes it's hard to turn a profit with certain items!
