I went to the zoo on Friday. It was so much fun. I love watching animals. There were some otters that were showing off in the water and one was doing the back stroke lol. They were so cute. Our city has a really nice zoo. When was the last time you went to the zoo? Do you only go with your children? I went with my husband - no kids. lol

The last time I went to the zoo was in 1998 when my husband and I went to visit his father in Colorado. We went to the Denver zoo, and I had a great time. It was only adults, my father in law, my husband and me. We spent the whole day there. My favorites were a baby tiger who was following his mother and did a belly flop into the water, everyone enjoyed him
All of the baby animals were so adorable.

We spent the day on October 17. It was a special event. For Halloween they call it BOO AT THE ZOO. So we took the day off, pulled our daughter from school for the day. It was wonderful and educational. A real family event. The BOO started at 5:30pm. We left before that because it started to rain.

Hi ya lilcee
The last time I went to the zoo was about 3 years ago now with my kids and my husband at the time. It is so expensive for a family to go to the zoo but as my kids are only 3, 5 and 7 I wouldn't dream of going without them. I guess when they are older and don't want to go I might go on my own or with a friend.

I know what you mean about it being expensive. We used our AAA discount and it was still expensive. When my kids were little, I wouldn't go without them. But now that they are all grown and on their own, I enjoy going with my husband. Thanks for the response.

I love zoos. Whenever I go I always think that I should have gotten into zoology because it would be so fascinating. The last time I went was probably about 2 years ago. We have a beautiful zoo to go to that is about 45 minutes away. I still remember the first time that I saw their new Africa exhibit. I absolutely love giraffes. The park has a tram that takes passengers out to this separate part of the zoo. It has a speaker system that plays a track telling you that you are entering Africa and preparing you for the customs and the animals and such. Like you are on an actual trip with an African tour guide. When we got there. we had to walk up a little rise and when we reached the top, I was stopped breathless at the site of giraffes running along the valley below. It was as if they were running free and I'm a little embarrassed to say that I almost cried!

I know what you mean. The first time I went to the zoo here, I felt sorry for the animals. The monkeys were in kinda like a pit. But now, they have improved the zoo a lot and it looks really nice. The animals have more room to run around. I really enjoy it now. Thanks for the response.

Its almost a decade since I went to the zoo. Not that I did not enjoy watching the animals, but I always come out sad. Sad at the way they are locked up inside cages. I start imagining what if we were locked up like that. Imagine our whole life inside cages, for others to enjoy watching us? I would like sanctuaries where they are left free to enjoy themselves. They have to live their lives in their natural habitats. It is just not fair to them. Take the monkeys for example. Wouldn't they love to jump from one tree to another, pick their own food, be it bananas, tomatoes, cucumbers, etc. We have to follow the policy 'Live and let live'. This way I think, most of our animals would not have become extinct. (I'm not sure of this though).

The last time I went to the zoo was last year, it was a small zoo but I ma frustrated when I see ther animals caged in a very small space. I am not against with zoo and keeping the animals there but this zoo that we went, the cages are so small, and the tigers and the lions are walking back and fort and so on and I think they too don't like the space they are in. Even the birds that are in cage, the cages are so small.
