i dont think there is a normal age for that. it all depeends if the mom or the dad is okay and going to buy them the polish. for me i have three daugthers and i started to buy them polish now that they are in their high school days. but seing them wearing it i didnt much like it on them. so i decided that they can only start to wear nail polish when they are already in college. i think it is more appropriate to see their nails colored when they are in college. just my view

Yes, it does.. But, they need to be old enough to handle nail polish. Some kids eat it, because they know that it goes on their nails, but not their mouths.. They have to be taught that it stays on the nails. Some kids are not ready for nail polish.

Pretty much when they start getting interest in it...I put it on my 3 year old niece and she loves it, she goes around and shows everyone how pretty her nails are, but if she wants to do it herself I would wait until she is about 7 or 8 where she can put it on properly without making a mess, even then watch them in case of an accidental spill, etc.

Yes, I see. You just have to be cautious about it, that is all.

Hi cream97, I maybe old fashion but I think if I had a daughter I won't let her wear untill she is 15 years old and that is streching it. Tamara

Little girls wear nail polish here. I think there is no stigma attached to it in the US so any age is fine.

As long as they are old enough to keep their hands out of their mouth. I think it would be a good way to teach good nail hygeine to a young child. I don't like the idea of putting it on small babies that would have their fingers in their mouth though. They should be old enough to realize the responsibility somewhat that goes with it.

Yes, fasttalker, you are right, they need to be old enough to know what its use is ONLY for.. And Zuke, I am glad that you chose to stop doing that . Very safe and wise decision that you made!

Nail polish is very toxic and shouldn't be used by small children. I would say age 16 or older would be acceptable.

Yes, it is. When they reach past the preteen years and they know right from wrong, that stage is acceptable too.

hi cream I think that around thirteen or fourteen would be appropriate as years back even we started wearing nailpolish in high school.the kids may even be wearing nailpolish much'younger these days as its been years since I was in 'high school.

I don't consider nail polish to be like other make up. Many times when a little girl sees there mommy putting it on they want some too. Usually the mommy will put it on for them. I don't see any problem with it. I would say probably 6 or 7, as long as the mom is doing it for them. They should be around 11 before they try to do it themselves.

Yes, these are very reasonable ages! By then, the girls are mature enough to handle doing it themselves!

Yes, especially if it done at a very early age, where the child does not know right from wrong. It can not be healthy at all.

i really dont know i have seen kids here that are way too young to wear makeup and nail polish. my daughter asked my husband to buy her a nail polish but she's not using it yet. to be honest, i dont want her to wear any nail polish at all. it makes our nails turn to yellow

I have put nail polish on my daughter when she was about 5. My opinion is that nailpolish is quite different than something like make up. Now that she will not wear til she is about 16. In the stores you can buy nail polish made for young girls and that is what I have used or a very light color of nail polish.

That is smart to buy nail polish lighter in color.. That can teach her the correct way of wearing it, when she starts to wear a much darker shade.

Hello cream. I often see some young ladies wear nail polish. I think that it is better not to use nail polish as it is something chemical and is not good to the health though it makes ladies feel good and look beautiful.
