Ligament Cancer in dogs

My dog Camile was diagnosed with Ligament Cancer back in May. She's a big and otherwise healthy dog. The vet didn't give us many options. Pain meds to keep her comfortable, amputation with no reassurance that it would work or help her. So far she's done really well. She was on one pain med, then they added another. But the cost was outrageous, we still owe for her diagnoses and all tests they ran on her. So I did a little research on-line and read that you can give dogs Buffered Aspirin for pain. So I did a trial to see how she would do on just the aspirin and it seems she's limping less with just aspirin. I was just wondering if anyone else has been through this kind of situation with their pet and what they did to help them. How long did you dog live for? They told us less than a year. I don't believe it, she seems to be doing just fine. Her personality and activity really hasn't changed or her eating habits.
