New Cat Worries

Since I adopted my cat I have tried to play with her equally as with the other cat. She is fine for awhile with me petting her and she likes to lick my hand she even likes to be brushed. Then all of a sudden she starts screaming and bites and claws at me. At first I thought maybe I touched a place that was hurt but, I can't tell. Then I leave her alone and she comes back in my face. So, now I'm nervous because I'm unsure of what's going on. I was told she came from an old woman's house. Is this normal?

My cat is a bit like that, I think some cats are just so independent, they take so much then lash out, I thought at first my cat may have been treated cruelly as most of her tail is missing so I don't know also my cat is very jumpy...

Has she been checked by a vet to rule out injury or illness? Each cat is different and have their own boundaries of what and how much they will tolerate, maybe she just gets overstimulated and is telling you "That's enough!"

We got a 7wk old kitten a few weeks back. In general terms she is ok with me, but will nip occasionally as i guess all do. My gf however (who had been after a new kitten for ages), is being clawed to shreds. At times the kitty will be fine just lazing around on my lap of on the arm of a chair, but other times (on the increase) she goes nuts and belts around the room and its best to keep clear. When we got her, the lady said she had to be picked up and put in the litter tray as she would just go anywhere, but as soon as we got her home, she auto used the tray and has never done it anywhere else. Also she's very clever and knows her own limits, but the manic thing and the clawing are concerning. She'll be having her first injections this week, so we'll check with the vet to see if thats normal.
